Help me with my registry!

I'm bored at work/procrastinating. . . hence this post. This is mostly just for fun :)

FI and I started our registry last weekend. We're stuck on dinnerware. I can't find any at BB&B that I like, so we're thinking about Crate and Barrel. Which of the following do you like best?

#1 Roulette Blue Band $31.95 for the set.

#2 Camden Sand $22.95/set
#3 Essential Dinnerware White $12.95/set
#4 Marin White Dinnerware $29.95/set

I vote for #4, but I'm definitely into that rustic/country style. It think it looks like it came from Pottery Barn. Sort of antique, but not out of style at all. Could easily be dressed up or used for everyday casual. I LOVE IT basically!

Those squarish bowls and coffee cups do not fit in the dishwasher properly.  They take up like three rows and piss me off every time I load it.

ETA: I'm talking about the bowl and coffee cup with number two.  They aren't as bad as mine, but after dealing with mine, I want nothing like their shape.

I like the one with the colored trim.  I like how there is still some color in yeet neutral as well.

    #4!

    #3 is my 2nd choice.

Personally, I'm between #1 and #4. For the other two, I like the shape of the bowl and mug in #2, but it is a little too plain for me otherwise.  #3 looks a lot like the Ikea plate we have now, and is a safe bet for any table, but again, pretty plain.

Honestly, none of them are my taste. But if I had to choose I'd go with #4

SO and I have had lengthy discussions on dishes and how he feels that food always looks better on pure white plates. I have to admit that he's right. I vote for #1!

These are the dishes his dad is absolutely in LOVE with- and Andrew can't stand:

I agree with this too, which is why I don't have any wacky patters or colors in my selection. :) I'm sorry about your impending plate inheritance!

Hahahaha!  BF has a horrible green set that belonged to his parents (they are still alive, but gave them to him when he moved out).  They are so ugly, but he won't get rid of them because he's sentimental like that.  So, they're in a box in the attic...

ETA: I just did a search to see if I could find a picture, and 4 of these bowls are being sold on Ebay for $30!  Maybe I should convince him to sell them?

Agreed.  #1 is more contemporary/modern, and I am more into the rustic look.  #4 just seems cozy and I like the "beaten" look of it.

I like color or a design on plates so my pick would be number one.

The very first thing BF and I bought for the house was this dining set: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Soho-Lounge-Square-16-Piece-Dinnerware-Set-Blue/10980400 and I don't think we'll upgrade because we like them too much!

Ha, this thread brings me to another 'hill I don't want to die on.' Right before I moved in with BF, he bough a new set of dinnerware - bowls, small plates, big plates, coffee mugs. They look like they belong in a sushi/Asian restaurant. They are cute, but are NOT for every day use. The bowls are square (yes, they are a dishwasher's worst nightmare), the plates have turned up corners (which break VERY easily when accidentally nicked against the granite countertop), and any food you put on them slides down to the middle.

I'm really hoping our (future) wedding will be a GREAT opportunity to pick out some new stuff that we both like.

I also like color. I also like Corelle (FI has Target stonewear and it is so freaking heavy!).

But now Wrkn has me second-guessing the squarish bowls.

I love number 4.  It's simple enough that it won't overpower any decor you use (since I know you'll be throwing lots of fancy dinner parties with cloth napkins, placemats, and centerpieces) but it's still unique and has a handmade vibe.

I personally don't like the shapes of the bowls and mugs of 2 and 4. So, shape wise I like 1 and 3 the best equally.

Right now we have mismatched dishes and I have a feeling FI won't want to part with some of them. Although they are only sets of 4 and look completely different...ugh.

I second you "ugh." Andrew and I have been holding onto a broken tea cup because he SWEARS he's going to glue it back together. It's a flipping white tea cup. I'll buy him a new one.

Ahhh I love looking through engaged people's registries! Post more pretty pictures here!! It always makes me want to convince bf to blow money we shouldn't on pretty things for the apartment, but he's still very into living like a slob (most of the time), so I hold off on anything pricey or pretty like these plates!!

We actually have the Essential White dinnerware, and it's fantastic. You can dress it up, dress it down...accent it, layer it, add to it, whatever. It goes with everything and anything. I love having crisp white dishes that I can build around and use for anything.

I like #1 and 4.  But #1 reminds me of my grandparents set of plates.  But I don't really like any of them, just not my style.
