Church Decorations?

I am getting married in a church and was wondering what I need to decorate the church.  We are getting to arrangements for the front of the church from our florist.  We are not allowed an aisle runner.  I would like to get bows on the pews, any advice on how many pews we put the bows on?  Besides the pew decor and arrangements for front of church, do I need any other decorations?

Re: Church Decorations?

  • I say place a bow on every other row. Also, two nice large floral arrangments at the front would be pretty.
  • You probably want to check with the church first to see if they have any rules regarding what you can do with the pews. I'm assuming not, since you already know you cannot do an aisle runner.

A lot depends on how much you want to do yourself, and what your vision is for the wedding. Are you going to pay someone to do the pew decor, or do it yourself? Larger bows require a lot of ribbon, which can get pricey.

I used white cardboard lacy pewcones from David Tutera's line at Joann's. Our colors were black & white, I tied a ribbon on them to hang them from the top of the pew and put a black & white decal on them to pick up the color, then they had baby's breath in them (which doesn't require water).

  • I would do pew bows on every other pew. As far as any other decoartions I would say not. Most church's are already very beautiful and don't need a lot to make it beautiful. I would concentrate on the reception site. You wont be at the church for very long anyway.
  • i like the cone with baby breath idea!  I made tissue pomanders/kissing balls to save money on the aisle decorations (although it was a little labor intensive to create)
