Pet Peeves?

Hello peeps! I was just surfing the internet, and came across something that just kind of irked me (imagine that, something irked someone on the internets...)

One of my friends has a Facebook profile photo of him and another guy, but the thumbnail that shows up on all his comments and updates just shows.... the wall between the two guys. There's a slight outline of their ears there. It makes me want to ask him if he knows how to change the frame for the thumbnail image. He probably doesn't care, though. But it just kind of makes me twitch. Why wouldn't you adjust that thumbnail???

So, what are your pet peeves? It doesn't have to be internet-related, although I'm sure there are plenty of those. And they obviously don't have to make any sense (goodness knows people's thumbnail images on FB are NOT a topic of national interest or anything). Laughing

I hate listening to people chew.  I once walked out of a study session early because the girl sitting behind me was smacking her gum and I was about to jump over my desk and rip the gum out of her mouth.  It drives me nuts to the point where I start shaking.  I then asked the prof if I could have earplugs for the test just in case (after the study session, while no one else was around).

I also dislike shaking tables when I'm testing.  It messes up my handwriting, and then I feel the need to erase and rewrite whatever I'm working on.

Most of my pet peeves are particular grammar errors.  Yeah, I'm so original.

Seriously, though:  good = adjective, well = adverb.  How freakin' hard is it?

<div>It depends.  Some days I have problems with english verb conjugation.  I had a friend who didn't know the difference between adverb and adjective.  But get her wasted and she could still tell you the name of the protein she synthesized (it was a monstrous word...I can't pronounce it, much less remember it).  Point being...I too am usually a grammar nazi, but some days I suck.  Obnoxiously bad grammar peeves me though too.</div>

Lol.  I'm not immune to stupid days, either, Peek.  Every now and then, something will come out of my mouth that will leave me wanting to cause myself physical harm.  I blame my Louisiana roots.

Elle, I agree with you on the LA roots part. So many people say "was instead of "were" I correct people if I know them well enough.

"Where you was going? NO IT'S "WERE GOING"

I am a substitute teacher and I can not stand when I have a 4th grader say  "was" all the time, I'm like let's go through this again.

This drives me crazy as well! When I was little and doing my homework at the kitchen table, my mom would sit there and if I needed help, she was available. Somedays she would get a bag of chips out, and I'd yell at her and tell her I couldn't concentrate through all the chomping. And gum drives me nuts!!!! I can't stand to hear people snap their gum. I know what you mean about getting to the point where it makes you shake, I'm the same way!

When people blow their nose and leave the kleenex in a place I can see it. That grosses me out.

I hate when light switches don't line up.  If all the lights are on, they should all be either up or down, if all are off, the same.  If I had my way each light would only have one switch, then I wouldn't go around trying to fix this issue.

I sound like a crazy person.

Not squeezing from the end of the tooth paste tube.  I can't stand that.  That's why FI and I have our own.
    I'm not good at feelings.

This.  Whenever I visit my parents I get so irritated with my mother for doing this.

I hate when people don't use their blinkers. I was driving down a pretty narrow but crowded street and the lady in front of me just started slowing down then backing up. I knew she was trying to back into a spot on the road, but she didn't use her blinker so I played dumb and stayed there until she motioned at me to move back. I mean seriously?!

Also, people where I'm from like to make up their own rules of the road. Like, "Well...I've been waiting at this left red arrow for a minute now. Left on red, right?"
I've had some serious road rage before, it ended in someone telling me they were going to shoot me. However, I'm still alive and well!

And I also hate hearing people smack their gum. I don't care if they blow bubbles and what not, but when you can hear them chew...ugh.

Me too! It's okay if I'm also eating, but otherwise it bothers me. Sometimes I have to leave the room if FI is eating (or turn up the TV). My new officemate also snacks a lot, so sometimes I have to put on headphones.
