Need some feedback please! :)

I mentioned this in another post that I'm auditioning for Annie. I've been out of musicals for about five years now. They asked me for a headshot by Saturday. BF took some but I have no idea which one would be good to use (if any!). If you were in my shoes, which one would you pick to give them?

    #1, or

#3 with a different shirt.  I like the pose in number three, but it's hard to see how long and pretty your hair is.

I thought with headshots, they usually want something up close of your face, so in that case, #1 would be best, but I think you should be completely facing the camera.

I like #3 and your smile, but I don't think it's close enough to see your face.

    Ok, I was wrong.  Smile

    Read THIS.

Specifically the paragraph on theatrical headshots.

    Good luck!

#3, agree with a different shirt too.  That way they can see your hairs better.

I said none of them as they all need work. keep the hands away from the face and maybe do the pose from three but closer up.

Headshots are also usually re-touched.  These just feel like casual pictures - very pretty casual pictures, but not headshots for theater.

The lighting seems a bit off - can you take some with natural lighting?  Put on a bit of makeup and get someone with Photoshop to touch it up a bit (dark circles under your eyes, the backlighting, any stray hairs, etc.).

I'm really not trying to be harsh, but I've been in casting before and they're downright cruel in how they judge headshots.

This. I love the pictures for facebook or posting here. I kinda felt bad pointing it out . you may want to find someone to do a pro or semi pro photo for you. But if that is not possible, the lighting can be changed by opening a window at about 3pm to 4pm for the best natural light. IF you are not able to find a blank wall with natural light then mirrors can be use to reflect it

You're auditioning for Miss Hannigan, right?

You need a flask and hair rollers to get 'in character'.

    I kid

But I am going to look up a picture of when I played her in 8th grade.  It's hilarious.

<div>Thanks for the feedback everyone. We may have to try reenacting the last photo in another shirt. :)</div><div>
</div><div>Cate- I actually told them that I don't have professional headshots and they said it was fine to give them any picture of myself that I have that's close to looking like a headshot. The place I'm auditioning isn't all that intense. Oh and I don't own any make-up. </div>

Wow, no makeup?  I started acting at age 5, so I was ALWAYS a makeup fanatic.  I don't wear much, but I have a ton.

You do have lovely skin, and you certainly don't need any day-to-day, it just usually makes for better pictures.

Nope, none. Growing up there was never any make-up in the house. Once we all got into dancing and musicals there was more make-up around, but I only ever wore it for performances. It makes my face feel funny and I always end up forgetting that I have it on and end up smearing it. lol

I don't wear any makeup on my skin either, but I do use a touch of mascara when I'm going out or taking pictures.  It makes a big difference and it really gives my confidence a boost.  If I were you, I would use just a touch of mascara and lip gloss for the photos.

I will say smaller community theatre companies won't care. I've used a self-taken photo as a headshot before and still got cast.

I'm also the odd one who prefers #2.
