Not Engaged Yet

No more air-ness

As some of you already know, FI and I have decided a couple weeks ago to not have the wedding in the hot air balloon.  The main reason is because it is really important to FMIL to see her son get married. We're either going to have the ceremony in his parents' back yard or at the courthouse.  It might be the latter, since FI said that he'd be uncomfortable with that many people there for something he considers such a private moment.

Maybe we'll still take a ride up in a balloon in April.

Adirondack Balloon Festival in/near Lake George, NY - September 13th or so this year.

    Do it.

I think you should renew your vows on a hot air balloon for your 1 year anniversary!

Oh dude. I second Blue's suggestion.  A hot air ballon festival sounds amazing!

Anyway, sorry to hear you had to change your plans for FMIL! But hey, you're marrying the man you love no matter what.

I just googled "hot air balloon wedding cake" to make a goofy suggestion about making your wedding cake reflect a balloon theme, but couldn't find a pretty one. Instead, I found this:

I'm really sorry you don't get to do things the way you wanted.  Kudos to you for being the bigger person and changing things to make your FMIL happy - it's a hard day to compromise on, but the relationships with family are ultimately more valuable in the long run.

Perhaps you can do something with hot air balloons during your honeymoon?

I saw, you say "i Do' and immediately hop in a balloon instead of walking back down the aisle.

Take an hour long ride while everyone is doing cocktail hour or whatever, when people usually do pictures, then land and go to your reception.  This way, you get your super private moment?

Dammit.  Selfish Paige wanted to see hot air balloon wedding pics.  That would be EPIC.

Moving on, yay for happy families.  Will DD be participating in this ceremony? (I ask b/c a friend's DD had a lil part in their vows, and it was cute.  And I'm nosy)

These are all great ideas. Thanks ladies!

To be honest, I'm really blase` about the whole wedding.  It doesn't really matter to me what we do for the ceremony.  I thought getting married in a balloon would be pretty neat, but it wasn't a big deal when we decided not to.  I think since I put so much effort into my first one, the novelty has worn off.  I know I don't have to put that much effort into it to still feel wonderful on my wedding day. I'm thankful that FI is on the same page as I regarding the wedding.  The only thing that he is adamant on is the food at the reception.

<div>No, we're having something really simple, regardless of the route we choose.  No wedding party or even MOH or BM, but she will definitely be front and center. I might have her stand next to me though.  But who knows if she'll stand still for it. lol</div>

You know, I've always thought this, too.  It's always seemed weird to me to ask so many people to witness something very personal.  I've kind of always wanted to have a private courthouse wedding followed immediately by a large reception, but I don't think that would go over well with a lot of our guests.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.
