AW: Room Revamp (PIP)

As I've mentioned recently, I've been working on repainting the office at my house.

Here's a photo of the room the way the old home owners had it (I got too ambitious and forgot to take photos before I broke out the brushes)

And this is the room after we finished painting. The wall stuff is to go up tonight,  I need some pillows for the futon, plus some other accessories that need to be move in. Oh, and a new light fixture but most of the transformation has happened.

What do you ladies think?

You did a wonderful job! I bought a house with horrible colors throughout...had to re-paint the entire place...so I know how much work it is! Props to you, and I love the color you chose!

I really like that color of green. It looks really relaxing. You did a good job.

Thanks everyone! I love the new colour and it is hard to tell in the photos but the previous owners had done a poor job on everything....trim, ceiling, walls. So, up close it looks so different.

What do you think about adding a rug to the room? I was contemplating a light coloured rug of some sort.

Hazel, that is one of my favorite colors! I've always wanted to paint a bedroom exactly that color. What's the brand and color name?

    Great job--it looks awesome!

I love that color!  Yes, I think a rug would be great.  Perhaps something in coffee or espresso tones to compliment the furniture?

I love rugs! They make the room feel so much warmer. I say get one.

I also really like the colour you chose. The previous blueish colour was kind of hard on the eyes. Your new green is so relaxing looking!

Marley - I had a bedroom that color in my last house and I LOVED it... great choice Hazel!

I say go for a rug... a light colored one would be good, but you could also find one that has several shades of green in it (something with flowers, or color blocks) so you wouldn't need to worry about matching the paint exactly. It just depends on what your style is!

Marley - It is definitely CIL and I believe the colour was Marian's Meadow or something like that. It was the first time I'd ever used CIL, but I'm not sure what to think of it. It said it was a primer in one, but didn't seem to live up  to those claims. What can I say, it was on sale.

Beads - If you thought the other colour was hard on the eyes you should have seen the pepto bismal pink room. Actually, here are the before and after pics for that room.

Ooooooo, that looks good Paige. I'll have to run it by BF, it is surprising how much he cares about interior decorating sometimes.

Has anyone ever owned one of the shaggier styled rugs before? If so, what do you think of it and are they easy to clean?

    Thanks!

Okay...I'm pretty sure we're design twins now. In addition to liking the same green (and liking green at all), plus liking that chandelier on overstock.com, the blue in that formerly-pepto-colored room is so much like what we just did to our living room! Awesome.

Ahhh...I have no idea what I'd call it. I can describe it for you, though...I like things that are a blend of traditional and modern. Especially if they're unique-looking. I'm also always drawn to leaves and flowers that are graphic and simple. Foliage that doesn't look exactly like foliage. Haha. I like dark stains for wood furniture, and I like brushed nickel or stainless steel finishes on hardware. I dislike too much wood when I can have a sleek metal alternative; i.e. I'd almost never go for a wooden coat rack, wine rack, etc.

What would you call that style? Halp. LOL.

Marley - I have the same problem. I'm a little bit modern country, a little bit rustic, a little bit eclectic, a little bit vintage , a little bit homemade and a little bit modern. To be honest I'm a mess.

That green room has my grandmothers old desk from the 1950s ish, a vintage radio that BF found at some auction, a wood look filing cabinet, a modern futon and random stuff from ikea. Once I get the accessories in there it'll be much more my style with the black and white photos that I have and metal desk lamp. Although right now the afghan that my mom crocheted on the back of the futon gives an idea of the homey style that I have.

I think it looks really good! I so want to paint my BF's house, he bought it about a year ago and every room is the same color. BORING! I am just kind of of nervous about picking out the colors!

I love the green, esp with the white trim. It looks so...clean. And the blue is def an improvement over the pink. :)

I have hardwood floor envy. Heck, I have house envy! I hope my H and I can afford to buy in the next couple of years. Our apartment is nice, but I'd rather have a house before we start TTC.

Desert - That isn't hardwood, it is laminate - just looks convincing in pictures :) The hardwood we have in the house will have to be ripped out because prior owners didn't take care of it. And, yes, we've had people in to give quotes on refinishing it and they said that there is no hope and that we wouldn't be happy with the results even if we stained it super dark. Sometimes it isn't a matter of affording the house it is can you afford all the crap after you buy it. That's my issue.
