Halp!

It just dawned on me that I should probably be giving our minister some $$.  What do you all think is the right amount?  She is a friend of mine and I don't think she "expects" anything, but I still feel like we need to give her something.  I am going to pick up a card today and was thinking $40 - is that not enough?  We also ordered her a corsage to match the flowers.

    How long is your ceremony?

I think $40 is probably fine.

I agree. $40 sounds like a good ammount.
    I'm not good at feelings.

my original thought before reading your suggested amount was $40-60, but with the corsage and a heartfelt thank you note, $40 seems just right.

Iunno....$40 with a corsage and a thanks sounds good.

So I don't think we'll be giving my minister any moneys b/c it's my grandpa and that would be weird....but I really never thought of it til now.  Thanks Jeter. Added to my list.

Hmmm, I think other people's suggestions are too low.

We gave our officiant $200 cash.

(This does, however, take into the account that he met with us 2 or 3 times for counseling).

I would do at least $75.

Okay, sorry! I didn't see that YOU were the one that suggested $40. Maybe it's just lower down South.

I would ask Jeana what she did.

I think $40 would be nice, maybe even instead of $40 in cash since she is your friend a $40-$50 gift card to her favorite restaurant?? That way it doesn't seem like you are paying her. When I do my friend's hair I don't expect anything, but when they give me little things like that it is always nice.

I would do a $50.  To me, the actual $50 bill just looks like more than 2 $20's for some reason, even though it's only a $10 difference.  Since it's your friend, I think that and a corsage is plenty.

Thanks girls!  The ceremony will only be about 25 minutes long.

kat - You're probably right that I should do a little more than $40 - I have no clue how they do it here in the south either LOL

paige - Hah -  Yes, that might be a bit weird giving your grandpa the money Wink

citygirl - That is actually a great idea - I may have to look into that one... Thanks!

I agree. $50 is a nice round number. I'd put it in a card.

    Jeter, Your welcome!

How are you feeling with only 2 days left?

Desert - I'm thinking that probably sounds good.  And yes, I did get her a card today Wink

citygirl - Um, to sum it up in one word, I would have to go with NUTS!  I am feeling completely nuts right about now.  I have so many little things left to do that I hadn't thought about and I'm starting to get a little freaked out and wondering how on earth I'm going to have everything ready to go on D-DAY.  Why Oh Why am I such a procrastinator?!

If this is just for a tip, why don't you give a giftcard instead of cash?

Then again, I think handing people money as a thank you is sort of vulgar.
