Getting back into a routine

So since I got back from vacation I have been eating horribly and not even working out at all.  I'm a bit disappointed in myself and how I look at the moment.  I'm sure I've gained some weight but I'm not sure how much.

So today I'm getting back into a routine of working out, mostly ab work out dvd's and getting back on my ellipitical.  I really want to look fit for the summer and all of the events I have to look forward to over the next few months. Including fitting into my MOH dress for my sister's wedding.

I miss Ely first off and I miss her daily work out posts, those were motivation too. It was awful to post I did nothing when I saw what everyone else was accomplishing.

So what are your current eating habits right now?  What are your current work out habits?  Have an particular goal you want to hit?  Any suggestions for staying motivated are welcome too.

Trying not to fall into a cycle of laziness.

ETA : Doesn't help that I have a canoli sitting here from Carlos's Bakery (cake boss) they were brought into work today and I couldn't resist...

Anniversary

I was just thinking about how I haven't seen her around. Did I miss a goodbye post or something?

ETA: Sorry to threadjack, I don't have any advice about a routine. FI and I are trying to get back into one as well.

My eating habits are a little more lax than when I was doing P90x.  But they are still low carb, high protein meals.  I just get to have a splurge meal during the weekends.  Doesn't help that Danish man is training for a race and carbo loading like mad.  So I have to make sure I don't follow him into carb hell.

As for work outs I vary from yoga, SUP, resistance work outs and some cardio here and there.  I don't work out as much as I used to when I was doing P90x, but I try to work out at least 3-4 times a week.  I just want to tone up.  My arms, upper back and my stomach.  Its hard to get back on the wagon but once you're on it gets easier, sometimes when I miss a day of working out I get really angry at myself.

ETA: My coworker just came back from a business trip to Jersey and brought back a box of cookies from Carlos' bakery. Hahaha... I helped my self to a cookie this morning.
  • Swhite- I miss Ely too, I don't know what happened....

Lyn- Carlos bakery is good, at least this Canoli is anyway.  I always wanted my wedding cake to be from there, we'll see.

  • As far as my eating habits go, I have a daily calorie goal I reach every day. I allow myself a once a week treat and sometimes a midweek snack depending on if someone makes cookies at my house or something like that. I'm slowing working on eating lower carb meals and higher protein.
I walk about 4-5 miles every other day. Previous weeks I would do some kettle bell training and MMA with FI but recently I have been walking more.
My goal is to lose another 50 lbs by the wedding.

  • Danser, you need to find a class. That's the only thing that keeps me exercising consistently.

Tonight is ballet, which I had to miss last week due to a calf injury. It will be nice to go back. My goal is to eventually do fouetté turns.
  • I love doing Fouette turns for some reason they are easier to do en pointe.  I'm awful at spotting so I can usually only get in 4-5 before it turns into a disaster!!!

I was dancing in the fall and you're right it is so much easier going to dance classes.  The school I go to ends classes in May, so once their summer session starts I'm going to see what is available.

  • Hi! I miss our workout posts and seeing how everyone was doing too! I am doing a couple of weight loss challenges and getting back into P90x as of today, now that we're done moving, so I'm hoping to lose about 30 pounds before the wedding too! I'm also considering joining a yoga class, but we'll see. It would be fun, but I am a big chicken and would probably be better off saving that money to go towards a house.

Good luck getting back into it, everyone! : )

  • Sorry this is so long!

I do a lot of meal planning and then basically force myself to stick to my plan.  Every other Sunday I sit down and decide what I am going to eat for breakfast (whole grain english muffin w/ peanut butter and a fruit smoothie) and lunch (veggie sandwich, goldfish, Fiber One Brownie).  Then I plan out what dinners we are going to be having.  The inside of one of our cabinets is painted with chalkboard paint, so we create a calendar in the cupboard of what is for dinner each night.  Then I write down all of the ingredients for the meals, cross off what we already have in stock and that is my shopping list.  We usually have to make an additional grocery trip to pick up more produce/bread/milk.  It is easier for me to stick with a plan that has already been made than to come up with a healthy dinner on the fly.

Right now I am working out about 5 days a week.  I aim for at least 3 days of running and 2 days of lifting.  I always allow myself one day per week of complete rest.

My goal right now is to lose around 5-10 lbs, but I'm not really trying.  I am focusing more on eating right and following my exercise schedule, because those are things that I can control.  I can't force my body to reach a goal weight, and everytime I do have a bad weigh in, it makes me feel like crap.  But I can force myself to work out regularly.  So as long as my weight is moving down a bit, I'm okay with it.

  • Heather-  I love your idea with the chalkboard paint on the inside of the cabinet as a way to keep tracking of meals.

I meal plan as well, not every single night to a T but if it's not in the house I won't buy it, no matter how much I am craving it. I eat what is in the house.  Since I'm a vegetarian it's just a matter of what veggies and protein I want that night and how to cook it. I bring my lunch to work as well to avoid any temptations too.  Although some days are easier than others.

  • I was planning to work out over the weekend, but with Tyler's grandma getting toward the end of her life and passing, I didn't want to leave Tyler alone. He's not a very open griever, but he spent most of the weekend either playing Team Fortress 2 or coming out for hugs and cuddles. Normally it's all TF2, so it was odd.

I was going to go after work today, but instead I worked 13 hours for the love of god. Tomorrow we're going to be funeraling it most of the day, but I'm hoping to get over to the YMCA in the evening if Tyler's okay after the funeral. If not, I'll pick up where I left off on Wednesday and move forward with life.
