Processional Song

I want to ask my brother to play the guitar as my dad and I walk down the aisle but I don't have any idea what song I'd like to hear! Any ideas??

Re: Processional Song

  • I started with my favorite movies (or those that are special to H & I) and pulled music ideas from those.  The family walked in to music from Love Actually, my best girl walked to an acoustic guitar version of Bridge Over Troubled Water (ok, not from a movie but it's "our song") and I walked to the Love Theme from The Princess Bride.

  • I can't see any of the replies thus far because the TK is acting coo-coo.

I walked to "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach.

I also wanted to give you a heads up, I am a performing musician and I want to warn you about the guitar.  The guitar is a very gentle instrument and unless the venue has amazing acoustics then I would get him mic'd otherwise no body will be able to enjoy his music.

  • My dad and I will be walking to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. I know its usually used as a f/d dance song, but my dad and I have a song and I like the sentimentality.

  • Are there any songs that he knows already that might work?  If he's not a super-pro it's always easier and less nerve-racking for him to play something he knows inside and out.

I walked to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, I've heard an acoustic version on YouTube that was nice but it's a different vibe for sure.

A fun acoustic guitar song is Israel K's - Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World.
  • Thanks guys! I will def start looking it some movie sound tracks and once I offically ask my brother, maybe he will have an idea of a song he already knows. He's been playing ever sense I can remember and usually just plays with friends but recently got encouraged to get up on stage in front of people and he really enjoyed it. Of course I will let him know he doesn't have to do it if he is uncomfortable about it but I just wanted him to have a special part in the wedding and I like that we are making or ceremony even more personal. We are going to have the DJ do the rest of the music I think and just have him do that one song.

Thanks again for all your suggestions, and we will for sure have a mic for him to play into since the ceremony is outside.
