State of Relationship: Engaged as of Friday!
How Long You've Been Together: 1.5 years

Least Favorite Thing About Your SO:  He says just about every thought that pops into his head. Makes for some pretty awkward moments

Favorite book/author: To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby (not very original, I know) The Night Circus, anything dystopian
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: I don't have a palmaris longus muscle in either arm.  According to wikipedia it's absent in about 14% of the population.  If you turn your palms up toward the ceilingand flex your hands you should see two tendons running into your palm.  I only have one.

This is Lily right after her last haircut.  She's near impossible to photograph because she never sits still.  She's missing a few teeth so her tongue hangs out of the side of her mouth most of the time.
  • Whenever I see your screen name, all I can think of is Finding Nemo. When they're in the sunken ship & see the escape hatch & Dori is all "Essscapay. Must be french."

    That's all I've got.

  • Welcome and congratulations on your engagement! Tell us the story.

Sorry, I missed your reply in the other thread. That sounds so fun that you are both dancers. I've only been taking ballet for a about 15 months, and I was terribly confused by all the terms for the first 2-3 months. I also take tap, jazz, and contemporary.

    Hiya,

I love the SN.  That is awsome both you and your FI dance!!! I've been dancing since I was 2, well over 25 years of dancing.

Congrats on your engagement.  How did he propose?

Brisox, it means to escape so it's an appropriate response. Smile

He had made plans earlier in the week to take me to one of our favorite restaurants. We usually go at lunch because it's a bit pricey at dinner.  Then we got an invite from a couple of friends to get dinner with them.  I said we should just go with them because it would be cheaper.  I asked that was ok, and he agreed.

We had been swimming all day so I was really tired before even going to the restaurant.  On our way out he said that didn't feel like going home just yet and suggested going for a drive (he has a convertible and the weather was perfect).  I told him I would rather not, but he drove so it was up to him.

Let me preface this by saying I'm usually a pretty patient person. He had been so distracted that day and hardly listened to word that came out of my mouth.  I had repeat most everything I said to him 3 times all day.  I got rather snippy in the car and told him if he wasn't going to listen to what I was saying then I'd rather just not talk at all.  I felt awful about this later and apologized.  He said he was just trying so hard not to laugh at that moment.  He had been so excited/nervous he really could hardly focus on anything that day.

He drove to our favorite park in the city. There's a long scenic loop there with a fountain about halfway through.  We walked up to the fountain, sat down, and talked a bit.  He told me he loved me and said lots of wonderful things.  He even got down on one knee.

Not a terribly grand story, but it was just perfect for us.

</div><div>Welcome OP!  As a former ballerina, I also appreciate your SN :) That is awesome that you're involved in the modern dance world...in Kentucky. How's the reception of modern dance down there? My Mom owns a dance studio in my hometown in VA, and they have a small modern dance company that I grew up dancing in as well.

Thanks for the welcome Jorga! I've met a few people that only have one.  I'm an anatomy dork so I've started a lot of interesting conversations this way.

I live in Louisville, and there's a great arts scene here. We're still trying to gain some ground, but our audience is growing slowly. We're working on getting some bigger donors, but it takes a lot of time and schmoozing.

What part of VA?  I danced with a ballet company in Annapolis, MD for a year, and spent a bit of time in DC and northern VA.  I loved that area and miss it dearly.  I do not, however, miss that enormous rent check.
