Hyperbole (and the people abusing it)

Browsing the Knot boards today, it really struck me that people are abusing hyperbole and are just generally overdramatic. Maybe it's just a tactic to make people read their threads.

I've seen things like:
"HELP! Bridesmaid dress nightmare!" - trying to find purple chiffon dresses
"Bachelorette Party Dilema [sic]" - friends can't go to Vegas
"MAID OF HORROR" - MOH not doing the bride's bidding

These threads never live up to their titles. I keep expecting something really awful, but they're just mundane problems.

I'm also really sick of the word "tacky." It's become a total catch-all.

    How To Be A Bridezilla:

    1. Become an expert on hyperbole
    2. Use it AT ALL TIMES
    3. It's YOUR DAY.
    4. Anyone who doesn't understand that, IS OUT OF YOUR WEDDING.

I like browsing "Moms & Maids" once in awhile just to feel grateful for the people in my life.  And for the fact that my parents taught me better than to expect my friends to be my slaves for the 12 months before I get married.

But cate didn't you know that your friends are just props in your life that don't have lives of their own and whose sole purpose is to make you happy? <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" />

I don't know how some of these girls have friends.

Because their "friends" are just as shallow and self-involved as they are, so they have petty little fights and then get over it because they don't know who else to call up to go shopping the following weekend.

And then when the bridezilla's friends get engaged, they then come on here and post about how awful the former-bridezilla is slacking as a bridesmaid because she wouldn't spend 6 hours gluing rhinestones around the edges of all the escort cards, so maybe they should just ask them to step down as a bridesmaid.

Hilarious... it's better than a soap opera!

I love the soap operas that go on around here.  I shared the Puerto Rico drama with my BFF, and she looked at me and said "You expect that and I will punch you in the babymaker"

You just can't make most of this crap up.  Someone should write a book.
