It is not uncommon to have a women on the groom's side or a man on the bride's side. I don't see anything wrong with it. I was an usher at my friends wedding and wore a black dress that matched the bridesmaid's red dresses.

So to answer your question, yes I think this post is real that there may be a female as a groomsman.

Confused as to what you're wondering is real, the fact that there's such thing as a female groomsmen (which I've been) or that this woman is being so petty abou it?  I stood up for my best friend and even organized a PG13 bachelor party much to the relief of the bride.  The boys had an R-rated post party after I left but by all accounts the groom enjoyed my party better. 

If I or my FI had a best friend of the opposite gender who we wanted standing with us, neither would hesitate to include them in the wedding party.

I can't believe the chick is being so petty, personally. FI and I almost had our own siblings on our sides, which would have been his sister as a groomswoman and my brother as a bridesman (or whatever). Our siblings didn't like the idea, so girls are with girls and guys are with guys.

But, honestly... how would it look weird? They're all in the same wedding. And it's the dude's COUSIN.

I wish I had so little to worry about with my wedding that I could be so petty.

I don't think its wrong to have a woman on the groom's side. I think this poster is insane in her reaction. And I think she has handled things horribly. Its probably one of the meanest posts I've read. Its ok not to like someone but 1) its her FI's decision who stands on his side and 2) She shouldnt have said it was ok and then freaked out about it later.

I just thought the whole post was so retarded because why would anyone care if a woman was on the groom's side? Plus I think she (meaning the poster) sounds like a horrible mean person.

Then again, while she is being a biatch, it is far from being a suspect post.  Stick around long enough and you will see that she is more of the average than not.
