Giving the (new) officiant wording/ceremony ideas?

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a great day!

My fiance and I originally selected a (knot-recommended!) JP to officiate at our ceremony next summer. Very recently, however, a very close family friend came forward and offered to marry us. It instantly clicked with my fiance and I as a better fit to be married by someone close to us rather than by an (albeit experienced) stranger.

This decision feels great, but our family friend does not have a lot of experience performing weddings. My fiance and I have much of the ceremony (readings, etc) figured out, but should we make suggestions to our family friend on what he should say as the officiant? (e.g. "Could you open with a traditional 'dearly beloved, we are gathered here today'?")

Did you ask your pastor/officiant to include any phrases or stay away from any topics (e.g. embarassing moments)? Has anyone been to a wedding where they thought, "Wow, that officiant just said something beautiful"? Special touches during or ideas for the ceremony?

I don't want to micromanage, but I welcome your suggestions!

Thanks everyone! Have a great day!
