Camera Advice

I'm looking for a new camera since mins is no where to be found and I figured since so many of you got new cameras for Christmas, you'd be the best group to ask.
I am looking for a point and shoot camera. I prefer Sony but would be open to other brands, I just have all the equipment/cards for the Sony camera. I know nothing about shutter speed, apeture, etc so any advice on what to look for in regards to that would be awesome too.

Thanks Ladies!

Cannon is good.  Their point and shoots are pretty simple and have good auto settings, in my experience.  Nikon is also good...but usually a little more advanced than Cannon...but again you can use the auto modes and ignore that stuff.

But, if you want a Sony then I'd say that Cybershots are the best.  They're easy, you don't have the option to play with shutters or aperture or anything like that.  It's mode based - so 3D mode (apparently this is cool), auto, outdoors, etc. The Cybershot DCS-WX5 is a great "beginners" camera from what I've read. It has good image quality, easy controls and is fairly consistent in it's image output.

I always use Canon, because my uncle's as huge tech nerd and that's what he suggests. I've been really pleased with my Canon cameras because I find they take nice photos and they're easy to use.

I have a Samsung TL220 - http://www.samsung.com/us/photography/digital-cameras/EC-TL210ZBPRUS (This is the link for the TL210 - basically the same)

If you want to spend a little more money - I'd suggest the Canon PowerShot G12 - http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_g12 (I had the G4? It was an awesome camera... until my ex-bf "lost it")

I generally stick with Nikon and Canon.
SO's parents just got a new camera right before christmas, I believe its a canon, its a point and shoot and it has like 14x optical zoom, and records HD video. SO and I played with it, and it takes DSLR quality pictures. I just don't know the model number. Sorry, I'll look around on the internet and see if I can find it.

Edit: Looks like its backordered at Bestbuy. Here's the link.

If you have sony already then I suggest like Paige Cybershots.  I stopped carrying a point and shoot long ago and switched to DSLRs.    I'm an avid Nikon fan, though my close friend who does photography on the side is a Canon user.  Also do you have a budget?  Cameras qualities come in all sorts of budgets now.

FI and I are Canon people, I've only owned one non-Canon camera and it was crap.  I have a Canon SD1200IS and it's been a great little point and shoot, and very reasonably priced, I think I paid about $140 for mine, but I know they are cheaper now because my mom just bought an SD1300IS for like $109.  FI has a Canon DSLR, I think it's one of the Rebel ones.  He wants to upgrade to a Canon 5D, but that's not happening any time soon (just the camera body, no lenses, is $2500)

If you want something small, I'd go with a Canon Powershot SD-series. They're compact and all have optical image stabilization now, which is awesome. I have the SD 700IS, which is actually four years old, but there's no need to replace it. It works great, it's reliable, and the pictures are excellent. My only complaint is that they never put a battery gauge, so you don't get much warning before your battery dies. The batteries do last a long time on a single charge, though. You can also pick up a second battery for not too much.

I can understand wanting to stick with Sony since you already have memory sticks, but SD cards are pretty cheap, so it wouldn't cost much to pick up a 4GB card. I saw some on Amazon for under $10.
