    Only 3???

    Okay, here goes:

Because I never cared to learn how to do anything in the kitchen, and suddenly I want to know!

Because we DESPERATELY need to update our living room furniture. It's all cheap Wal-Mart college student stuff.

Our bedroom set is discontinued, and I am seriously considering just outright buying it for ourselves (the queen set is still listed at $169).

Bow-chicka bow-wow. Love the exotic colors. I also registered for purple and gold sheer curtains. Wink

    Ok, I can't stay at 3.

    I love this set!!!

I would PIP my china, but the sales lady asked if we were Cowboy fans so, I'm debating if I still want that china

I've been doing all my potatoes in a soup pot, so I'm really excited about this one.

    I love cake, 'nuff said.

     And last but not least.....

Ahh, new pans that I won't be eating the teflon for years!

Well, I'm with Jeana.  I couldn't pick just three.  I did try to tone it down by picking my top 5 off our main registry and top 1 off of each of the other two.  Let's see if PIP works for me today...Yay!  Looks like it will!

First up:  3 high-dollar favorites from BBB registry (main registry)
    1.  Calphalon Unison Cookware Set 10-piece.  LOVE.  Been wanting new pots and pans for a while now...my Wal-Mart ones are old and beat up looking.

    2.  KitchenAid Artisan Mixer, in green.  Yay baking and making my own pasta and bread, etc.  So excited.

    3.  Shun Classic Cutlery.  We actually just registered for open stock of the ones we will actually use, but it's easier for PIP to show you the block.  Hella expensive knives, but SO incredible.

Second, a couple of my more desired inexpensive items from the BBB registry:
    1.  EveryDay White Rim Dinnerware.  We have lots of plastic and melamine crap from Wal-Mart, and like 3 microwave-safe plates that don't match.  I don't care that it's only $4 a plate and some people would probably call it crap as well, I can't wait to have matching dinnerware!

    2.  SlapChop.  I think my love for this was expressed in the other thread adequately.

Number 1 off Pottery Barn Registry:  Mingling plates in white, so they'll match both our dinnerware and our china (china is Noritake Platinum Wave, so white with silver):

Number one off Target Registry:  Ahh-Qua Bar.  Yes it's a float.  FI and I both have parents with lakehouses, and we spend quite a few weekends there from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and this float rocks:

I looooove my kitchenaid mixer.  I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago.  It is the gift that keeps on giving.

    Most Practical

    All-Clad Ltd2 Cookware

They are amazing.  I do not know how I ever cooked before.  Plus clean-up is a breeze.

    Most Used Electronic
Krups Rice Cooker, Steamer and Slow Cooker

We use it at least 3-4 times a week.  Plus it doesn't take up as much space as having 3 separate machines.

Favorite not-used that often and not practical for now
China - Kate Spade Gardner Street Platinum

We cook one really nice meal every other week on Sundays and break out the china.

Mutley, the woman at Williams Sonoma (not where we registered because there's not one near us, but where I did go to look at stuff this past weekend) tried to talk me into getting All-Clad rather than Calphalon.  Have you used both?  Did you do a lot of research?  Is the All-Clad really that much better?

I did a lot of research on-line and asked for opinions from people I know.  I like calphalon and have cooked with them.  However, when I watched my friends 3 kids and cooked with her all-clad set, I was sold.  They are more expensive, but in my experience they were beyond my expectations. (And I had high expectations.)  Water boils at rapid speed.  The handles really do stay cool.  They wipe clean so easily.  I cook almost every night, so I wanted to go with the best without going overboard.   Next up, I want to build my le crueset stock.

I also didn't like the look of the new calphalons.  I liked the look of one line that was being discontinued and already unavailable in many of the pots.

We had the opposite experience at BBB.  I wanted All Clad I thought but once I learned how hard they were to clean and how you had to really know what you were doing to use them we decided on Calphalon non stick.  We spent like an hour talking about the differences.

I love the all white dishes and the dishes Mutley posted!

I think we have the All-Clad stuff too.  They're actually much easier to clean than the non-stick stuff we have.  IMO.

I'm not registering for awhile but all I want is set of wooden cooking utensils.  They are my favorite thing to cook with.

It depends on the All-Clad set, I guess.  The one we got is only available at W-S.  We hand-wash our pots and pans, but it is so easy like I said before.  However, they are dishwasher safe as well.

We went all out and registered for the soup bowls, the pasta bowls, the accent plates and the vegetable platter.  Maybe it was a little too much, haha.  I guess we'll be using some of our completion discount to get the rest eventually.  The women in my family love to buy china though so maybe we'll luck out.

Ha I'll be super fancy when I serve them on my two person bar table too.  Judging from my sister's registering expeience, the fancy stuff like china and crystal she got but the practical stuff like cookware she didn't get.  People are silly.

Mutley, I just changed my pots and pans to yours. I know almost NOTHING about good pots, and I'm inclined to take the opinion of a seasoned cook to heart.

I'm trying to actually have things in my kitchen. We didn't even have a microwave until my mom bought us one in November. I need to actually cook at home a lot more.

I feel the same way Jeana.  Everything I'm reading in my research is telling me that the non-stick I registered for originally is good for 1 small fry/omelette pan for eggs and fish, etc.  Stuff that's normally sticky.  But for sauces and things the All-Clad is better, and then for soups/stews and things that heat a long time over low heat, enamelware (Le Creuset) is the way to go.  So yea, I might be ditching my "matching set" idea and just registering for different ones so I can get a custom set that fits my needs.  And yes, I'm the only one who will use them, so I get to decide all on my own.  Other stuff on our registry is indeed "ours," but the cookware and bakeware is not on that list.  ;-)

We've got a ways to go before we register, but we've been looking around at BB&B's website and talking to rickylee about her registry, so here goes:

KitchenAid Standing Mixer - yep, I'll join the club. I can't wait to use this bad boy, with the amount of cooking I do. I may have to do some test-runs on rickylee's until next year...

Cuisinart Ice Cream/Sorbet/Frozen Yogurt Maker - I've been dying to make my own diet-friendly ice cream, especially in the summertime. I can't wait to get this one - first up on the list is peach ice cream, maybe key lime ice cream after that... :)

Oxo GoodGrips Kitchen Gadgets - to be honest, we won't need much in bathroom/bedroom items, as much of that was bought between the two of us in the last two years. Maybe some new towels, that's about it. I'll admit, I love getting new kitchen gadgets, as a lot of what we have have been recycled from undergrad or is beat to hell. I literally salivated when I saw all the gadgets they've got online...measuring spoons (like, a complete set?)? Sign me up! A lemon/lime juicer? Yes ma'am! I really love the herb mincer - I work with fresh herbs a lot, and either make a mess and crush them trying to mince them with a knife, or snip my fingers cutting them up with scissors.

Serving Utensils - we entertain a lot, but all I have in terms of serving ware is a few mismatched hand-me-down pieces from my mom and a bunch of plastic stuff from Walmart/Target. It will be nice to having proper serving utensils for when we have dinner parties or holidays.

Granite Fire Bowl Table - I wasn't joking, all I want is a fire bowl (lol). I've been pining for one of these for about two years now. We may end up registering at Target just for this, simply because they have them for the most affordable prices.

I promise that you will notice a difference.  My pots and pans seriously make cooking even more enjoyable.

Acro, the cookware was all my choosing.  Well, most of the kitchen stuff was my choice.  He had veto power but that was it.  His concern was the wash-ability (since that is one of his 'jobs.')  I do 95% of the cooking and he does most of the washing.

We supplemented the All-Clad with pieces from the kiwi color Le Creuset.  I need to have people over so that I can use our giant oval baker.

Ocean- KitchenAid makes a ice cream maker that is compatable with the mixer. Both the smaller tilt head one and the larger level lift one. I don't know how much they are, but the less appliances the better right?
