Hazel

Hi! You've mentioned your culture several times, and I was curious about it. Could you tell us a little bit about it?

Paige, I'm a little confused as well.

My only guess is mennonite, otherwise I need her to explain.

lol, my initial thought was Canadian culture but then I wondered why she wasn't asking you,

My fall back was Mennonite/Amish, I think there may be a lot of them where she moved to. If so, they maybe a shock when you see them for the first time.

My friend's going to a Bible college in Manitoba for his university degree. It's a mennonite school and I predict he will go into culture shock.

Speaking of Canada... has anyone ever been to an Oh Canada, Eh? Dinner show?

Why do you think he'll experience culture shock?

Their religious expectations at the school (I'm not speaking for all Mennonites, just this one) are so different from what he's used to. I don't mean that that's a bad thing, it will be very different :)

Well, if he isn't religious really then any bible college will be a shock to him. I know they are generally much more community oriented so that maybe different as well, but that isn't a religion thing at all.

Actually he is religious, but perhaps it's the expecations? A mutual friend of our went to that college and really enjoyed it but he said it was very different (not exactly religious-wise).

I'm really sorry if I offended you in any way by saying that, I really didn't intend to and didn't mean anything negative at all!

I would really be interested to hear more about it, if you'd like to share.

I'm so sorry for disappearing, my phone won't let me post during the day. I, for some reason, thought you were hindi or Indian. I have no idea why. I think you said something along the lines of a many day wedding. You've made comments here and there that I have a hard time wrapping my head around, so I was hoping you could tell me a little bit more about you.

Maybe in the future, I won't ask out of the blue and then run away. Fail at life Hetshup.

Hazel: because now I'm nosey, are you affiliated with the Mennonites?

Hetshup - My friend who got married last year is Sir Lankan / Hindi. I know some things or I can ask her if you have specific questions.

KD - My mom is Mennonite, new order, but I wasn't raised within the Mennonite church. My mom moved to where my dad is from and the Mennonite churchs were all old order, so I went to church where my dad and his family had gone. I did go to a Mennonite affiliated college, so that combined with being ethnically Mennonite I know a fair bit.  Feel free to ask anything.
