Why?

...does falling on the ice hurt so stinking much?

I fell on my driveway today as I was walking inside. My bottomside is black and blue and my wrist hurts. My shoulder also hurts. My backpack was on, and it luckily took the brunt of the fall. Thankfully, I didn't break my laptop :)

I hate falling.  Especially on ice.  Which is why I have refused to go iceskating with BF and dismiss his requests for us to get rollerblades.  I think I am going to have to do both of these eventually and am convinced I will break something (and I've never broken a bone in my life).

Just like the post below, that sounds trippy!

GAH! I hate that. There is an area of my driveway that always has a patch of ice and it's right where I get out of my truck, lucky me. At least once a year I will fall on that spot. I feel your pain.

At least your laptop is ok. Have you turned it on and whatnot to make sure it didn't jar it's insides?

You died so the laptop could live! Of course you didn't really die. But seriously, if I had my laptop on me and I took a bad fall, I wouldn't care about my wrist or whatever - I'd make sure the laptop was okay. This is where my priorities are, haha!

No seriously, Ember I'm glad you're okay. My sidewalk has been a deathtrap for weeks. The ice just doesn't want to go away.

Thanks. I went out and put salt down (again). My first response was OMG!! My laptop!! I immediately came in and turned it on to make sure it was okay. After I decided it was working fine, I realized how sore I was.

How come when we were little, we could fall, and get up and keep going? I'll probably be sore for a week after this spill.

I fell on ice a few weeks ago!  Slipped and went up in the air like happens in the cartoons! It hurt like hell and I had a bruise on my butt and elbow. . . and my back hurt for a few days afterwards. Stupid ice.

Ah! I hate that jolt you get when you lose your balance a little on ice.

I was walking my dog a few days ago and she went running down the walkway to my side. She brought me with her and I slammed down on the ice. For some reason it didn't hurt, though.

I used to be a figure skater so I fell on the ice a lot. I know it's hard and happens in a split second, but when you're falling just try to land on the palms of your hands, then your butt.

I have one too that is half under the driver side of my car. I always have to brace myself when I put my leg up in the Jeep, then if I feel myself start to slip I have to grab the steering wheel for dear life. Thank God the car blocks me from the road, or people would be laughing on a daily basis.

For some reason I'm always scared I'm going to fall. I just recovered from foot surgery. Walking on crutches is not fun in snow & ice! Luckily I haven't fallen - yet! I've learned to be very, very careful especially since I'm still getting use to walkin on the foot! Oh, and surgical shoes hurt your foot when you're walkin in the snow! Fun!!

Sorry to hear about the falls, gals! Glad everything is okay, Ember. Lots of ice in my driveway for sure, and on the front steps.
