Junk Food at Work

Does anyone else have co-workers who keep baskets of candy or other junk food around the office that is free for the taking?

I just went to the printer and there is a basket of Hershy's cookie and cream kisses sitting there.

So hard to resist!

We have pretzels, licorice and pub mix, but that's about it.  I do have my own personal stash of food, but it's my breakfast bars and nut mix. LOL.

I keep candy in my desk for my students... but I usually end up eating most of it.

I think our admin usually has candy, but I very rarely go by her desk. They try to be good here, so Tuesday is fruit day. Fresh fruit is brought to the kitchens on each floor.

I do always keep a stash of non-perishable goods in my desk, though.

We use company money to keep a stash in a filing cabinet.  Chocolate keeps the office ladies from going off on the delivery guys.

I'd forgotten about it today, but you reminded me.  I think I'm gonna go get a mini Twix now.

I usually keep tricuits and pretzels in my desk to keep me away from that cabinet.

We here at my work are a bunch of bakers even the wives of the warehouse guys.  So any day of the week there are cookies, cakes, brownies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, donuts and every Friday or so the VP buys a big Danish from a bakery on his way into work.  Not to mention that there is a bowl full of candy and chocolates in the front area.  And with the up coming  holiday season, clients always send us holiday baskets of goodies.  I am not a big fan of chocolate and sweets, and thank goodness I work in the back area of my company so I don't wander to the front area often.

Plus we are a small company so we celebrate everyone's bday.  Yesterday we had a carrot cake to celebrate the people born in October.  Ugh....

    OMG! HAHA!

We have this Halloween bowl at the front desk (which is MY desk) and it has been empty for two weeks. People have come in and joke about how there is no candy in the bowl. Two minutes ago, one of my bosses just put a crap ton of chocolate in there and now I have to sit and look at this thing...I already ate two pieces. So, from now on I have to exhibit intense will power so I don't gain like ten pounds sitting and eating chocolate all day!  AHHHH!!! At least, I'm going to work out tonight.

OMG YES! I work at a company called Fidelity (not the investment company) and we commonly refer to it as Food-elilty. Ugh, so hard to resist temptation. If your office is like mine, we can only expect it to get worse as it gets closer to Halloween...oh, and Thanksgiving...oh, and Christmas...

We don't have a bowl of candy that we bring in ourselves, but sometimes clients bring in treats as gifts. We just leave them in the kitchen for whoever wants some. It isn't always safe though... we once got a horrible box of Polish chocolate.

There is always some kind of treat in the faculty room. I try not to go in there but some days I just have to go in a see what is in there!

I hate work places like this! Ok maybe hate is the wrong word. Luckily I have learned to have very good will power. I had a job that required me to make cookies each morning. Resisting fresh baked hot cookies is very difficult!

The best was the place I worked a few years back. The lady who sat next to me 1) made chocolates, 2) baked, and 3) would make goodies at her desk. Man, we probably broke so many safety codes.

She had a hot plate, and we would sometimes make Rice Krispie Treats or crepes at her desk. She also had this little smores kit where you could toast marshmallows over a little sterno can or something. The time we taught a guy from Japan (who'd never had a smore) to toast a marshmallow was hilarious! He set his marshmallow on fire and had no idea what to do.

We serve chocolate chip cookies on our flights and I walk by Starbucks daily.  Shoot me.  But my son as a wheat and dairy allergy so at home we don't eat any bread, pasta or dairy.  At least at home there are no temptations.

I changed jobs in July and at my old company we ALWAYS had some kind of candy, cookies, goldfish... I'm convinced that I gained 20 lbs just eating goldfish...

Now, I'm working with some of the same people from my old company but we've been really good about not bringing in any stashs... If we want junk we have to go out and get it... we're usually wayyyy to lazy to do that! lol

and plus I'm on a diet so I'm desperately trying to stay away from the junk food... but you know the Halloween candy has been calling me and I'm about to buy a big bag!! LOL

YES!  There is a candy jar in the office right next to mine and someone usually bakes something yummy every week and brings it in for all of us to enjoy.  I have issues with eating all this stuff when our computers aren't working (fairly frequently) because of my boredom.  It's bad.
