[QUOTE]Oceana - my little brother has the car.  It's getting a little rickety but it still does the job.

It's a great little car. Unfortunately, though, where I live now, you run a significant risk of it getting pancakes like they did on <em>Mythbusters</em>. People drive like friggin maniacs down here.

    [QUOTE]And Kat, I must be slow today because I didn't see that until now.  <a href="http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/special-topic-wedding-boards_not-engaged-yet_cars#" title="Click to view a larger photo"><img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/6/3/46f74319-8d93-4257-93aa-db779a1fc491.medium.gif" alt="" /></a> Oceana's Mariner.

I've never had an automatic either. I get bored driving FI's car.

Oooooo Mutley.  FI and I had always wanted an Audi.  That is, until FFIL bought our newest dream car:

I got my mom-mobile early on to haul the dogs around in, and for taking our godchildren places.  I knew eventually I would need it for our kids too.  FI has a basic Chevy truck for utility purposes, and we're hoping to add a fun car one day...though I doubt it'll be anytime soon.  For now we just borrow his dad's Camaro whenever he'll let us!  :-)

I only know how to drive an automatic.  I've been trying to get someone to teach me for ages.

I love my little car, but Oceana's exactly right.  I hate the highways here, and avoid them at all costs.  It only took two weeks of living here before I got nailed by some moron pulling out of a parallel parking spot.  At least it wasn't high speed, because those morons are out for blood!

I've come to the conclusion that taking their licenses away won't help.  Most of them can't possibly have licenses, anyway.  They should all be lined up and tazed.  Possibly shot in the kneecaps.

BF responds by being equally aggressive and nuts.  I end up driving like a grandma.

I don't have a car.  Actually, I've never owned a car.  I just used one of our family's cars when I commuted to school.

Obviously, I want a job but I really don't want to have to buy a car to get there.  I completely agree with Oceana- there's no way I am driving around SoFL in anything but an SUV.  Unless it's a Volvo S40.

Sapphire - I love the Fits!! If my next car wasn't going to be a family-car I would want one of those!!
  • edited December 2011
I absolutely love it! It's actually a lot bigger inside than it looks and everyone I know has been surprised with how much space is in it. We're pretty sure it's going to work fine for a family car for now at least. I still want to get a CR-V but we're waiting on that one for awhile.

    My car:

2008 Honda Element. It's not a stick shift. FI has a manual and tried to teach me and it was such an awful experience that I refuse to try again.

Here's his car, minus the British plates (taken from a random website):

    2008 Subaru Impreza hatchback.

My 2001 Ford Escape. That's a google pic cuz I'm too lazy to go outside right now, but it looks exactly like that. Only difference is that mine has a kitty decal on the back driver's side window.

I looooove my baby. Her name is Catrina (and I assure you NOT named after the hurricane. That happened about four months after I bought her... She's actually named after My Little Ponies "Escape From Catrina" because I'm a dork :P). I'll probably forever drive an Escape now. My next will be a hybrid Escape though.

    His car

I hate that thing. Not very good gas mileage considering how small it is (almost equal to my car's) and it has some issues. None terminal (yet), but still. It also smells like oil inside even when nothing's wrong with it, which leaves BF and myself smelling like oil.

Haha.  I sold my car when I moved to Boston.  So did BF.  We either walk, take the T, or rent a ZipCar.

I just bought a new car back in November.  Its my first "new" car.  It wasn't new new, but the newest car I've ever purchased and the first one I've ever bought from an actual dealership!

2006 Chrysler 300 - this isn't an exact pic - stole it from google, of course...

kat - I know everyone has already said this....but I told knew you'd drive a bug!! Hah!  Too cute.  I used to own a 1971 VW Bug :)  Ohhh how I miss her...

I am currently learning to drive manual. BF contributed the vehicles into our relationship, so I must learn. I grew up driving a tractor, so I understand the concept and functioning of a clutch. However, driving in a field and driving and obeying traffic laws around others is so different. I don't feel confident  enough yet to drive amongst major traffic.

    Everyday:

Canadians gawk at this car constantly since they are so rare here. They aren't sold new, so people either have them imported from the US or have bought it used here.
