Lowe's Pulls Advertising From 'All-American Muslim'

Lowe's decided to pull their advertising from TLC's 'All-American Muslim'.  I know a few of you girls watch the show (I've seen the first 2 episodes).

It makes me really angry that they chose to do this.  It seems like this one group from Florida is pressuring the companies into pulling their ads during the show because they believe it's "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."

Here's an article about it: Clicky

Thoughts?

"The conservative Florida Family Association, which is pushing advertisers to drop "All-American Muslim," cheered Lowe's decision. The group called the TLC show "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."

Now I'm pissed off.  Sorry about the weird font.

    It's f-ed up right?  I don't get why, I really, really don't.

I tweeted Lowe's saying how ridiculous is it & that they're doing nothing but spreading hatred & discrimination.

If we shopped there we wouldn't be anymore.

Seriously... Do they know that not EVERY person who is a Muslim is dangerous to American values?... Plus what are American values in a culture that is so diverse?? I'm upset. I know where I am NOT going to shop. I think I'll write them a nasty letter. This is sick.

FI read this article to me this morning as I was getting ready for work. Disgraceful. Didn't they also try to pressure Home Depot into withdrawing sponsorship from LGBTQ events?

I just don't see how they can say this when the act of pulling their advertising makes a pretty big statement on it's own:

We believe it is best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance

Ludicrous.  Seriously.  See, this is why I avoid controversy.

Guys, at the end of the day, they're just a hardware store.  If they suddenly decided that they were getting too much negative attention and pulled their advertising from an HGTV show, no one would be this upset.

Two Christian american's successfully blew up a US federal building killing 168 men woman and children. One Christian man shot 19 people, killing 6 again including a child, in an attempt to assassinate a US congress woman. Yet Lowes pull's its ad's from a show about regular american's trying to live in peace? Yeah that makes sense...

I really place more blame on the crazies that are like "THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!" than Lowe's for pulling their ads. I'll still shop there, because I know the people at my Lowe's aren't muslim haters.

And, EFFFFFFFFFFF that stupid group from Florida. I would love to find a way to take all those stupid groups and ship them to an island somewhere where they can all be closed-mided together.

Lowe's probably looked at their target market and decided it was safer to pull out than to face critcism from narrow-minded groups. The bigger problem is the number of people who believe they should fear a particular group because they are different.

American values: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

People seem to have forgotten that message.

THIS. Totally agree. People who don't consider that it's not just one group who does something bad really piss me off. It's like people who think that same sex marriage will ruin the institution of marriage. Um really? I think most straight people mess that one up on their own!

I've been reading up on this group. Their website is absolutely shocking. I wasn't aware how many shows this group has successfully managed to get companies to pull advertising from. A lot of these companies cave like a house of cards built by a two year old.

The list pp posted are companies the FFA claims responibilty for getting them to pull their ads. Not all of them defnitely pulled their ads JUST because of the FFA or even pulled their ads at all.
For instance, if the show airs on Monday at 8pm and has two Target commercials airing during that show, but then has no commercials airing the next Monday it could just be that the company switched programs or days, unaware of the show itself. But the FFA will notice the missing commercials and pat themselves on their backs.
A good example... Sweet and Low company said they had no plans to air commercials during that show, but specifically said it wasn't because of the shows content. The FFA congratulated each other on their letter writing campaign, anyway.

The reason why Lowes in hitting the news is because they admitted to pulling their ads because of the content the FFA claims the show has.

Personally, I'm also concerned with Degrassi, a show the FFA is hitting hard because of a transgender character, among other grievances, I'm sure.

I didn't realize that show was even on anymore. I thought it got cancelled ages ago. There always going to be annoying groups like that out there, it's annoying but there really isn't much we can do.

It was stupid of Lowes to say that they pulled their advertising for that reason. If they hadn't said anything I kind of doubt anyone would've noticed. Someone in their PR department needs to be fired.
