Ideas for Memorial Weekend Pleeeeeeese!

So, BF and I both have mext Monday off. A 3-day weekend is a big YAY for us since BF's externships (hospitals) don't usually give him holidays. However, we're slackers and have not made any plans. I would love some ideas. We'd love to get away for a night, but things just seem so dang expensive around long weekends. It doesn't have to romantic or even a trip, but I'd love some thoughts with what to do for our extra time off. Any suggestions? What are you all doing with the holiday (assuming you get it off too)?

I am working all weekend. (No rest for us Forest Service employees ;)  But around here everyone wants to go camping. (But they can't which sucks for them)  Go hiking, or backpacking.  But I like doing outdoors stuff.  What do you like to do?

We're outdoor-types too! We wanted to go camping at the Great Sand Dunes here, but the campsites you can reserve are already booked. We're afraid the "first come" sites will be taken by the time we get down there. I would plan a hike in the mountains too, but we've had so much rain it could be a muddy mess! Maybe something more local or city??

No concerns about being kiddish - bring it on! Sounds like a lot of fun, and we haven't been to an aquarium in a while...might be a winner...

We're going camping at a lake near Albuquerque. I can't wait! I'm already getting food ready. (Of course, the foodie gets the food ready 2 days ahead.)

Sand Dunes in Colorado? Who knew...Well- you did. I didn't.

I say you go to the butterfly house in Denver. SO proposes and then you have post-proposal sexy time for the two days afterwards! Just a thought. ::shrugs:: LOL.

P.S. I was telling Andrew how pleased I was with NEY and that I might be able to meet you and Beth when we move- and he said sheepishly, "Well...maybe they can bring their boyfriends and we can all hang out." LOL. He's so jealous of my friend making ability. Hehehe...

o, jealous! I want to go camping so badly, nobody's schedule works with each other's tho. I love getting food prepped for camping also... planning, organizing, packing, etc. I think I am a little OCD, haha

I like the aquarium idea.  What about a museum/art gallery day.  Or you could go wine tasting.  :)

I'm a big fan of a good old fashioned BBQ. Can you invite some friends over Sunday or Monday for a day of grilling, drinking beer and playing yard games? Then you can still do the aquarium or something else fun on Saturday, maybe followed by a nice dinner out, or a picnic?

BF and I are having a BYOM&B party... which is Bring Your Own Meet & Beer. This way we don't spend a zillion dollars on the party, but we still get to have a great time. We'll buy snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, and everyone else brings what they want to eat. It's been a big hit in the past!

My brother and his girlfriend live near Denver, and for his birthday last year she took him to Utah to go camping and to hike near the Delicate Arches and they had the time of their lives!  If you want more info, I can give you her email/introduce you?

For me, I'm flying up to see FI for the weekend.  It's only been two weeks, but I'm chomping at the bit to get my arms around him.  I'm looking forward to some awesome clothes-ripping good times.  He keeps coming up with all these activities we can do, and I finally told him, "Honey, I'm unemployed and broke and all I really want to do is lock the door and only put clothes on to answer the door for the pizza delivery guy."

I happen to be at the YMCA in Estes Park right now and it's lovely up here. The prices aren't bad and the rooms we're staying in are nice (no tv). The lower elevation hiking is decent, the elk are out, even saw big horn sheep. The little town is also lovely to tour. Trail Ridge Road is not entirely open but open a ways. The upper elevation hiking use traction devices (Yacktracks) and you can make it up the snow packed trails.

Just an idea that's kinda close and not too expensive...

oh and if you want a city day check out the Pirates exhibit in the Nature and Science Museum- It's on my to do list. There is also an IMAX of Everst that is supposed to be really amazing at the museum.

    Regardless, enjoy the weekend Laughing

I got BF a package at the Holiday Inn for his birthday. I had to check a few to get the right package but I found it about 40 minutes from where we are. You get the room, and a package. Our happens to be a movie night in so we can rent any movie we want on demand/PPV, and they bring up popcorn, snacks and drinks. We also get breakfast in the morning! It was not that pricey either, so it's something to look into.
