I'm bored, so here's some 'would you rather' questions...


If you lost a limb, would you rather lose an arm or a leg?

If the world really does end this year, would you rather die quick and painlessly in the initial catastrophe or have the chance to live, but possibly die in the days afterwards from thirst/starvation/etc?

If you had to go nude for an entire day, would you rather it be in front of complete stangers, or close friends? Toughie. I'd rather not do either... but since I'm playing this game, I would pick friends. At least I could call them out if they stare at my inequalities between right and left sides.

If you had to live in a climate that never changed, would you rather it be somewhere that never got above 20 degrees, or somewhere that never got below 100 degrees? Somewhere that never got below 100... I already have the AZ thin blood and can withstand it.

We've talked about this and how we would rather save a child from starvation and poverty than create multiples on purpose (denying God's natural intentions).

Hmmm...I think I'd like to have the chance to live. I will be pissed if the world ends this year though because then all of this school would be for nothing!

I would probably choose adoption in a normal situation but since both adoption and IVF are expensive if I would be gaurenteed a multiple birth becuase BF and I want more than one child I'd go with conceiving a biological child via IVF and guarenteed a multiple birth.

Quick and painless, like ripping a bandaid off...okay that can hurt but only for a millisecond.

Hmmm, never really thought about it.  I think annual payments would be pretty sweet...but I know that both my BF and Dad would say your just letting them hang onto your money interest free, so I'd probably take it all and find wise investments for a large portion.

100.  It is 20 here today and feels like 11 with the wind chill and even though it is bring and sunny I am freezing.  I went to the grocery and had a close spot and my hands were numb still...and I had gloves on, just not the bulky ones that I hate.

Tough call, but I don't think I'd ever do IVF, even with a guarantee.  I have always said I'd be open to adopting, BF and I have discussed that as our back up plan.

If you lost a limb, would you rather lose an arm or a leg?  A leg, assuming there'd be enough left for a prostetic.  I could re-learn to walk with a different 'support', but I think it'd be much more difficult to re-learn daily tasks without two hands.

If you could have a superpower, would you rather be able to fly, or read minds?  Fly (or teleport preferably).  While it would be interesting to know what people are thinking sometimes, I think an easier way of travel would be more practical to me.

Annual payments - This way I'm guaranteed that I can't blow it all at once.
Strangers - then I never have to see them again.
100 degrees - Sounds like summer in Phoenix.
IVF - multiples are fine with me since I'm only planning on one pregnancy right now.
Fly - I really don't want to hear what people are thinking all the time

Ugh to both, but I think I'd go with the heat, as long as I have good A/C. And I'd prefer dry heat to humid heat.

Wow, I didn't know that.  Do you have a prosthetic?  I thought of this question because H and I watched Soul Surfer this weekend and started discussing it (he'd rather lose his arm, which I found surprising especially considering all the things he already can't do because of his dislocation).

Chance to live of course! Although I have actually thought about it, and I don't know that I'd want my girls to suffer, so I'm actually kind of torn.

I think I would rather adopt, but that may be because I already have children and I know there are so many kids out there without homes that I'd feel selfish bringing more children in to the world without helping the ones that are already here.

Yes, I have a C-Leg, it's a microprocessor knee and it is AWESOME. I can do pretty much anything I set my mind to... the hard part is convincing my mind! There are some things I don't do, but that's mostly out of nerves or fear. It took me forever to get back on a bicycle because I was afraid of falling on my head or something. Once I got back on I realized it was no big deal.

It took me awhile to get over the appearance part... when I was in high school I had a cosmetic cover that looked pretty much like a real leg. Once I got a C-leg I decided to not do covers anymore, and I still wear shorts and dresses. I get some funny looks and funny comments and questions from little kids (a little boy thought I was a robot!) but I don't care anymore. Took me awhile to get to that point though... once again, all in the mind!

I like hot weather, but I couldn't stand over 100 every single day.

A leg.  And then I would get a prosthetic.  I'm sure neither would be easy but I couldn't use my hand for a few months earlier this year and that was miserable.  Plus, it'd be really hard to take pictures with my DSLR without both arms & hands!!  Or fly an airplane.  I'm thinking I could still fly with just one leg.  Maybe.  Or maybe not.

This one's tough for me. I only have one eye, so losing either would really mess me up. I guess I would rather lose a leg. I use my hands to judge close distances.

I had bone cancer when I was 13 and had my right leg amputated above the knee.  Now I'm 25 and this August I hit 10 years remission so I have a feeling this will be a good year!

I haven't really talked about it on the boards (just in passing here and there, I have mentioned it <em>maybe</em> once or twice). I had a bit of an epiphany at the end of 2011 where I realized I need to start writing my story down... something I'd thought about for years but never got around to. So I bought a notebook and started writing. Hopefully I keep it up!

Thanks for sharing your story, when I read the original question I remembered that you were an amputee, but figured I'd let you announce it as it was posted nonchalantly in a post a while back.  I hope that you and your family are planning a big party to celebrate 10 years of remission, because that is a HUGE milestone!

I absolutely love hearing success stories about people who won the battle against a childhood cancer.  I lost my only sibling to childhood cancer and I raise money every year for pediatric cancer research in her memory to help prevent others from losing their loved ones.

I really hope I can keep it up and make a book to help others. I remember desperately needing something like that when I was going through it, but there was *nothing* out there that I could find. There were some things about childhood cancer and a few things about amputees, but most the amputee stories were about super amputees becoming great athletes. I've NEVER been athletic. I was always the dorky clumsy kid (with a love of the outdoors) hahaha!
