AHH!

Did you know that there is a site that mirrors all our posts on this board and anyone who has your user name can find all your posts you made? i have not had any bad things I have said on this board, but It worries me that anyone that googles me can find my posts! I thought that if i made myself secret i would be ok. silly me eh?

Unless you mean finding out your actual name from your user name...

If you just click on a user's name you can find all their posts on the Knot. It can be kind of useful to find out what sort of posts a person's been putting up if someone's writing weird stuff.

Sally, many people find that the internet provides a very false sense of security. Even though you may feel that your info may never be found if you make yourself secret on boards, you can still be found. everything is "mirrored" in one place or another. even when you delete something it is never truly deleted.

For some reason, when I read "mirrored," I pictured this alternate universe TK site where all our alter egos hang out in NYE.

    Is 'google' a euphemism here?
  • edited December 2011
I don't like to google myself. My real name is the same as a porn star, therefore when people google me, they think I'm a porn star. My FI was doing his research on me when we first met, and he was like, wow, I'm assuming this isn't you! But, that also makes the stuff that is about me buried on page 54 of Google :)
