AM Routines

What are your morning beauty routines? How long do you usually spend getting ready to head out the door?

Mine need a serious overhaul. Lately it's been shower & go, maybe a quick rough blow dry so I don't leave with wet hair. It's making me feel not so purdy. Any tips for quick beautifying tricks so I can feel like a girl instead of a slob?

Re: AM Routines

• I shower at night because my hair is really thick and takes forever to blow dry. My morning routine usually goes like this:

Wake-Up
Wash Face
Straighten Hair (sometimes I curl it)
Concealer
Eyeliner
Eye Shadow
Mascara
Sheer Lip Gloss
Brush Teeth

All of this takes me 20 to 30 minutes

My mornings are different on a daily basis but . . .

Assuming I have an early show for work:
I stumble out of bed & put eggs on to boil
Shower while eggs finish
Makeup (full face - bare essentials powder foundation, urban decay eye primer, other various mac shadows/liners, mary kay mascara, etc - entire face takes 10 minutes, 15 if I get distracted)
Hair (just goes up in a bun type deal for work in uniform)
Put uniform on
Figure out what the heck needs to go in my car (depends on if I'm leaving from our Big Bear house or if I'm already down the hill/on base)
Wolf down eggs. Try to remember vitamins.
Re-brush teeth because I can't stand boiled egg breath all day
Get in car
Forget something in the house & go back in

All of that above takes, generally, about an hour. Can take up to a half hour longer if I'm packing. Can take an hour and a half longer if I'm packing for a trip and didn't bother to pack the night before (standard).

ETA: Quick tips - totally forgot to type these!! Night shower doesn't work for me - I just like to shower in the morning as it helps wake me up. But, when I need to make things quicker, I get everything set the night before. Clothes, shoes, socks, undies, etc - all of that out and ready to go. Makeup out & ready to use. Keys & purse near the door. Eggs already boiled (I HAVE to eat first thing in the morning). Getting everything ready the night before shaves 15 minutes off that routine above, even if I put my contacts in. Amazing how much those little seconds & minutes add up at 5 am!!
• I've been thinking that switching to night showers would help, maybe I'll give that a try. 20-30 minutes isn't bad at all :)

haha, I do this all the time. It's usually my cell phone. :)

Do you work for an airline, or are you in the military? I'm sorry if you've answered that before.

No worries! I'm military. I don't fly everyday but I do wear a uniform every day work work no matter what I'm doing. I also don't work every day or even at the same time from day to day. That makes getting ready harder because my "stuff" is almost always in disarray. So I've had to learn to have a good routine. I edited my original post above to include some quickness tips too - totally forgot the first time I posted!
• 5am?! Ew. Haha. I'm sure I could do it if I had to, but it wouldn't be high on my list of things to do.

Setting things out the night before would be a good idea. I think I waste a lot of time fumbling in the dark when I'm getting ready. BF is a programmer and a total night hawk; he usually goes to bed around 4:30am. I always feel badly if I have to turn on the light when he's sleeping.

• I am absolutely no help because I work from home! : )

My schedule is:

Alarm goes off at 6:05. I hit snooze.

Alarm goes off at 6:15.
I get up and brush my teeth.
Wash my face.
Put on lotion.
Get back into bed. (Don't know why, but it makes me feel less rushed and like I get more sleep this way).

Alarm goes off at 6:27.
I get up and walk to the couch and log in.

At random points in the day I'll put on workout clothes and contacts and maybe makeup, but usually save "getting ready for the day" after my workouts when I can shower and get dressed for real, lol.

• Alarm goes off at 6:15.

I wash my hair at night for the same reason as some other girls, also to save precious sleeping time lol

Wake up.
Make coffee.
Brush teeth, wash face, apply moisturizer.
Foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara.
Straighten hair.
Get dressed.
GO!

Generally I leave enough time in the morning to sit and have a cup of coffee and surf the web after I'm done, like I'm doing now ;)
• I shower at night too.
wash face w/ am prescription acne face wash
brush teeth
use neti pot ( most times)
put on acne spot treatment (prescription)
comb straighten hair
apply anti wrinkle spf 15 mositurizier
apply make up
I am usually done in about half an hour including getting dressed and feeding the cats.

Anniversary

• My alarm first goes off at 6:15, I snuggle with BF for 15 minutes, then:

Get up
Go to the bathroom
Throw some clothes on (During the winter the time varies because I usually just throw on a t-shirt and jeans and a sweatshirt because it's so frakkin cold! - more time gets put in during spring/summer) (I will also note that this usually involves digging in clean laundry baskets/dryer for clean clothes because I am TERRIBLE at putting laundry away)
Brush teeth
Deodorant
Brush hair
Shoes
Out the door

This usually takes 15-20 minutes depending on the clothes situation - also the hair situation. I typically shower and straighten it at night because it takes me an hour (I have ridiculously curly hair and it is THICK) If I have left it curly, I either condition it - and throw it in a ponytail or gel it and throw it in a ponytail.. I rarely actually style my curly hair for work - especially in the winter

So I'm really no help SOP. I am soooooo not a girly girl, and I would much rather get an extra 10 minutes of sleep than throw make up and stuff on in the morning lol.

• Alarm goes off at 5:10
Shower (15 mins)
Brush my teeth
Put on my makeup (10 mins)
Blowdry my hair (10 mins)
Get dressed
Leave at 6

I can't shower at night either because my hair look ridiculous the next day if I do. On days where I'm feeling particularly tired (the day after KUI for example) I won't wash my hair, just my face/body, which saves like 20 minutes. I generally wash my hair everyday though because it can get pretty oily.

• I'm really no help either because I am low maintenance and definitely not a girly girl, but here's mine:

Wake up 6:15
Shower
Get dressed
Eat breakfast
Dry my hair
Brush teeth
Leave at 7:20

This is almost an exact replica of my own morning routine.
• I wake up an hour before I need to leave for work. I shower, brush my hair, put on lotion, do my make-up (concealer, powder, light eye shadow, eye liner, mascara), do a quick once over with the blow dryer and pull my hair back, put my scrubs on, and out the door.

• alarm goes off at 5:32 AM. I get in the shower by 5:40 AM. get out, put in cream and mousse into my hair. I go into the kitchen and feed the dog and make an egg and english muffin for breakfast. I usually empty the dishwasher while waiting on my egg to cook. at 6:32 my alarm goes off to take my BCP, and then I know it's itme to start blow drying my hair. I blow dry my hair, get dressed, brush my teeth, put on some lotion and get out the door between 7:00 and 7:15 AM. I don't wear make-up so that cuts some time off my morning. :)

I don't wear makeup nor do I wash my face in the morning because it stays too dry. At night, I slather vitamin E oil all over my face, so in the morning, I just rub the excess oil into my face and that's that.

The time between when I wake up and when my car is leaving the driveway is 25 minutes.

• Hmmm, my alarm goes off at 6, but I should really start getting up a 5. Anywho...my schedule:

- Shower
- Brush teeth / Diffuse Hair / Lotion but No make-up
- Get Coffee
- Walk dog for 15 minutes
- Eat breakfast
- Make lunch for FI and I
- Empty dishwasher
- These days - warm up car and clean it off
- Put dog in kennel
- Wait for FI to commute in together

My goal is for all of this to happen in an hour and a half. Waiting for FI is the only part I have no control over and is therefore the biggest issue in my morning.
• I also shower at night. I have long, thick hair, so it's much easier. I'll also blow dry & straighten it at night, or just let it air dry if I plan to throw it in a pony tail (which is what I do most days because I'm lazy).

- First alarm goes off at 6:50
- second alarm & getting up at 7
- do whatever I'm planning with my hair (put it up, quick once-over with the straightener, etc)
- put on makeup (foundation, concealer, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner)
- brush teeth
- get dressed
- grab lunch for the day
- leave house by 7:25 - 7:30
- at work by 8

Andrew takes WAY longer to get ready then I do.

7:00 AMish- Wake up without an alarm
7:05 AM-8:20 AM- Watch tv, Knot, Eat breakfast
8:20-8:30 AM- throw on some clothes, brush my teeth, and toss my hair into a bun.
8:30 AM- leave for work

• I am 0 help for this...

I get up between 8:10 and 8:15, take out the dogs, use the restroom, wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed, either put hair in a bun or twist back the front pieces and wear it down, then make my tea and grab a granola bar and run out the door at 8:43 (5 minutes late).

I rarely wear makeup to work. If I do it is a quick dab of concealer, red lip stain, and mascara. If I woke up early for some reason, I will wear blush.

I with CCO, sadly my alarm goes off at 5:50 am and I hit snooze till 6:40 - 6:50 am get up brush my teeth brush my hair put moisturizer on my face, get dressed, throw together some food into my lunch bag grab my cup of coffee in my travel mug kiss danish man and out the door by 7:15 am. In total about 25-35 minutes from getting up and out the door. I am thankful FI doesn't have to leave till after me so he makes coffee and sets some of the things out for me like apples and yogurt. I don't wear make up and my hair is either loose, ponytail or a braid.
• Haha, Liv, I love your description of your day! I have been on both sides: waking up before FI and waking up after FI. It's easier if I get up before. He's not as quiet as he thinks he is.

[QUOTE]I don't really have a routine because it varies day by day as I work from home. However, most often: 5:30 AM: Wake up to Mo's alarm even though I have earplugs in. Sing a few bars of Journey or Eddie Money (whichever is in his CD-player alarm) before falling back asleep. 6:15 AM: Wake up to Mo bringing Tucker in and putting him on me and instructing him to "wake up mumma." Hand Mo my earplugs to put in their case so I can later wake up to my own alarm. Try to listen to the things Mo tells me before he leaves and grunt in response. Fall back to sleep. 8:00 AM: Alarm goes off. TODAY will be the day I get up early to work out! Assess pain level. Wonder why I always assess pain level and write it down when it is always the same. Hit snooze. 8:09 AM: Just 9 more minutes. 8:18 AM: Just 9 more minutes. 8:27 AM: Just 9 more minutes. 8:36 AM: Just 9 more minutes. 8:45 AM: Just 9 more minutes. 8:54 AM: Fuckadoodledoo. Now I have to get up. Get up, put on bunny slippers and robe. Go pee. Maybe wash face if I am feeling especially industrious. 8:57 AM: Shuffle into living room to open laptop and enter screen saver password which takes the ungodly length of time of 30 seconds to respond so I must busy myself elsewhere while waiting. Go turn on Earl's cage light and say, "Good morning spiky friend! Mumma loves you!" 9:00 AM: Log into email. Make general noises of discontent about how many emails my boss has sent me. Scan snippets to see which one might be least offensive and start with that one. 9:10 AM: Wish I had a different job. 9:11 AM: Continue emails and just take a quick peek at what's going on on NEY. 9:15 AM: Maybe coffee will help. 9:22 AM: Yup, it does. 9:30 AM: OK, I'm human, let's do this shiit. [Sometime later in the day is showering, maybe makeup if I feel like it, maybe hair drying if I feel like it but usually not. I'm so lame.]

I forgot this part of my day! FI's alarm is set to the soft rock station so I usually sing, Whitney Houston or Elton John or Shania Twain before falling back to sleep to wait for my alarm. lol If he snoozes I get several songs to sing along to. :)
