Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

ceremony venue clashes with wedding colors...

The Church that we are getting married in has bright red carpet and for my summer wedding I was thinking of having bright colors but nothing to do with red. Do you think it will clash with my wedding colors? Or should I try to ignore the carpet completely?

  • No one is going to look at the carpet.

  • I agree with Hoboken. I have never noticed the carpet color at a wedding. I wouldn't worry about it!

  • For the sake of 20 pictures, don't worry about it

  • I wouldn't worry about the carpet either. Also, maybe think about doing an aisle runner as well. So pictures of you walking down the aisle will look a bit more toned down. :)

  • Honestly?  I worried about the carpet, and so I'm using the colors in the church as our wedding colors.  I want the photos to look good.  But that said, I had not preconceived ideas about what I wanted the colors to be.

  • If you are trying to control a church's carpet and drapes, you are going overboard.  For the sake of your sanity, dial it back a bit.  Focus on the fun of the day, not the minute details or you'll take all the fun out of it.

  • It's ok to be thinking about it - colors are a key part of planning, after all - but luckily I think you can fix this pretty easily and move on.

Use an aisle runner long enough to cover the whole aisle, as someone else said. Also, your bouquets can be whatever color you want, but when you're picking all the other church decorations, use only a neutral "accent color" - white, silver, gold, whatever - that won't clash. And then the photos will be fine.

Remember your colors are a starting point but you'll actually end up using a range of complimentary colors around your main ones, because not every vendor and store will have the same options. My main colors are berry and champagne, but I also ended up using a lot of dark brown and ivory as the neutral accent colors. Good luck and best wishes! Jennifer
