So today I was at work and my boss and I needed to speak to the Chief Medical Officer about a case.  He interrupts and says to my boss, "You know, under our watch, Shoes has gained weight".  And I replied, "Dr. XYZ, I just lost 3 pounds!"

He replied, "Good.  Only another 30 to go!"  I'm now crying at my desk.

 I would call a meeting tomorrow between the two of them and you, in private, and say "what you said about my weight was not only inappropriate, but also rude. Give me a good reason why I shouldn't take this to HR."

It's a small company.  There is no HR...and he's basically at the same level as the CEO.  There is no one I can complain to.

I mean, I know I need to lose some weight, but I didn't think I was getting so heavy that people would start pointing it out.  I'm a size 10-12, which isn't skinny, but seriously?  I can't believe this.

You HAVE to say something to him to let him know that what he did was unprofessional and stand up for yourself.

Practice this: "I expected better conduct from a physician who is a leader here."

Or "Thank you for hurting my feelings with the weight comments Dr XYZ, please use your professional manners from now from now on." 

Or "What you said about my weight was not only inappropriate, but also rude."

my first thought on this was: you have GOT to be kidding me!!!! HOW can a CEO equivellent get away with THAT kind of behavior?!?! Second thought on this was: you are incredibly inspirational to ME. I know without a doubt that I would NOT have been able to keep from getting fired over that. and then have an assault charge or TEN pressed on me. I think you handled it very well for the situation. And third thought was: you really ought  to make sure that goes in the record books because that sounds really discriminatory! crass rude and sounds like your workplace just got a LOT more hostile!!!! I wonder if it's a doctor thing. I deal with docs with similar lack of tact. Usually older docs with a high level job that think it's ok to treat women like they're all secretaries that should be answering their phones and keeping a pleasing figure to be suitable eye candy.

You should leave a poop on his desk. A dog poop. Put a little flag in it that says "I bet you have a small peen".

Ok you probably shouldn't do that..but fantasizing about it at work might help you get through the day.
