Hallllllooooooo

Hi ladies,

I'm back from Jolly Old England. I've actually been back since yesterday, but I had a crazy day at work.

How is everyone? What's new? Did I miss anything important?

I should probably offer up some London photos. I need to get the pics off my camera. I will say, the amount of William & Kate paraphernalia I saw was overwhelming! Even in more staid places like the Westminster Abbey gift shop.

I feel like I missed this. How long were you gone? Did you leave while I was in Peru? Either way, I missed you ;)

I would LOVE to see photos, soon please :) Did you like London? England is one of the places I would most like to visit.

Hey Bren! Well, I've been around a bit less lately because of work. I didn't realize you'd gond off to Peru already. I hope it was awesome!

I loved London. Since I was there for work, I didn't have a ton of time for sightseeing, but I tried to cram as much in as possible. I'm getting my camera now to find some photos.

I arrived on Sunday and left Wednesday morning.

    Ask and ye shall receive.

We start our tour in the British Museum. It's huge, and I saw maybe half of it. I particularly wanted to see the Egyptian antiquities.

    The Rosetta Stone

    Statue of Bastet

    Sarcophagus complete with mummy!

    Parliament and Big Ben

Westminster Abbey main entrance. The abbey tour is really excellent, but you can't take photos inside.

Westminster Abbey - I couldn't get the whole thing in frame

Gate of Buckingham Palace. Notice the E and R in the design for Elizabeth Regina. Sadly, I didn't see the guards with the big fuzzy hats.

Red phone booth. I saw more phone booths in London than I've ever seen anywhere (since at least where I live, you almost never see a pay phone anymore)

    Yay!  I love London!

    I travel by my tastebuds:

Did you have fish & chips?  Indian food?  Steak & ale pie?  A pint of British lager?  Cider (the hard stuff, obviously)?  Cadbury chocolates?

I had very good fish and chips (a huge piece of fish), the veggie version of the traditional English breakfast (fried eggs, baked beans, fried tomato, and toast), fish cakes, fish pie, and cornish pasties (pronounced PASS-ties). The pasties were a great quick lunch. It's like pie crust with a variety of fillings, then folded over and baked.

I didn't go for the Indian food, since I do eat a lot of it at home. I also had cream tea my first day (tea, scones, jam, and cream) and bought some British Cadbury Creme Eggs and biscuits from Fortnum & Mason and Harrods. I'm swimming in biscuits.

I don't drink alcohol, but I had lots of tea!

Jealous! London is definitely on my list of places I want to go!

Pardon my ignorance, but is there a difference between London Cadbury and regular Cadbury?

Apparently so. A British coworker brought some back once, and they were more creamy and less sugary than the American counterpart.

<div>Cool! Now I want some. I had an American cream egg yesterday, and they are super sugary, but delicious once a year.</div>

It's regular chocolate but they're amazingly good. My cousin used to always get it when she or her boss went to London. I found it at the Duty Free at Boston Logan and was so excited! FI ate about half of my bag walking around the city that day and bought more once we got back to the airport. He also said they sell it at our airport but hasn't brought any home yet, hmph.

My favorite are the chocolate eclairs- they're caramels with chocolate inside...YUM.

Welcome Back Leia!! Did you get any William and Kate memorabilia??
