I'm back from Spain and now tediously going through all my work emails...sigh

What's new around here?!

Hope everything has been good since I've been gone!

Going through work emails upon return sucks! BUT, I'm sure you had an amazing trip which everyone wants to hear about. I've never been to Spain, or known anyone who's gone, so I'm curious too!

    Thanks everyone!

So, nothing really important happened? I got pulled away from my e-mails this morning because I had two meetings (which I didn't know anything about). I'll post some pics in a bit.

I had a great time when I was there. To answer the same questions of my co-workers, yes I did see the protests and strikes when I was in Madrid but it didn't really affect me. I am definitely inspired to learn Spanish now....or the different versions of languages that I came across....Spanish, Catalan and Valencian

Calindi - Seville was really good, met some great people at my hostel. Met this adorable gay couple from Belgium, think they are going to try and visit me when they come to NA next year. Also, the flamenco there is amazing!

Hetshup - there was definitely sangria...and wine....and sherry

Welcome back! Pictures please. My cousin went to Spain a few years ago and he loved it! I hope you did too.

Madrid: The park off to the side of the Royal Palace, you can see the side of it in the background.

Barcelona: One side of Gaudi's Sagrada Familia. It is slated to be finished somewhere between 2020 and 2040.

Barcelona: Gaudi is very nature inspired in his architecture, this is the base of one of the columns. Columns tended to have the look of a flower stem.

Barcelona: Down at the pier at the end of La Rambla. That is Christopher Columus pointing towards the New World apparently.

Paseo de Colon!  Oh man, I stayed right near there when I was in Barcelona.  I want some Sevilla pictures!

And when I was in Barcelona in 2007, they told us it would be done in 2012.  Yeah, right.

Barcelona: During the La Merce festival they do towers of people. The tops ones are little children and then they just slide down everyone holding them up once they've gotten to the top.

Valencia: The is Gulliver of Gulliver's Travels, it is a play structure in the middle of Valencia that children use at slides. Unfortunately we couldn't go in.

Valencia: They have the largest aquarium in Europe, this is at their Dolphin show, the most impressive one I've ever seen.

    Valencia: Downtown

Seville: This is the side of the cathedral, third largest after St. Peter's and St Pauls. You can still see the Islamic influence of the Moors in the architecture of the doorway.

    Seville: Inside the Alcazar.

Seville: Bullfighting arena, just a tour though. I don't think I could stomach watching the "performance". Can you tell I had issues when they kept refering to it as a performance.

Seville: The Cathedral at night. The bottom of the bell tower is left over from the Moors and the original mosque. The bells were added after the Christians reclaimed the area. In the tower there are no stairs but ramps. Apparently during Moorish times the person who did the call to worship 5 times a day for the Muslims rode a horse up so he wouldn't be out of breath.

Maybe the calendar designing people were drinking too much sangria while making the calendar.
