You and your SO

We haven't had a cute, couple-y AW post in a while.

So tell me what makes you and your SO such a great pair!
Or why you're SO is awesome.
Or why you're awesome.
Or why Paige is awesome.

BF is awesome because he wrote a legit love letter for me this weekend :)
Maybe this is more about how he's awesome, but I love that we never really fight. He's never too proud to apologize or to just be kind in general to keep things calm. It's great for us, because I typically have a temper (which I do try to work on) but he can diffuse that temper in a minute. I can't stay mad at someone who's tell me he doesn't want to fight, and that we need to sit down and talk things over politely.

    I found my counterpart.

I'm a feet on the ground type of person, he's a dreamer.

I like to save money, he reminds me to celebrate.

I'm a freak about being organized, he leaves cups on the nightstand. (OK, I'm trying to find a positive in that.)

I don't get heated about anything, he's passionate about everything.

I'm not as affectionate, he pulls me in for a cuddle.

We sound like opposites, but really, we balance each other out.  Without each other, we'd be too far one way.

We've been told that our relationship is doomed because our political and religious affiliations don't match up.  I think that's lame.

Our relationship works because it has "fun" at it's core.  We make each other laugh.  We share the same adventurous spirit.  We would both prefer to own a small house filled with great toys (boat, jet skis, air hockey table, home gym) rather than a big, nice house, even though the latter makes more sense financially.

Once, we made a list of the first things we would buy if we won the lottery, and we agreed on every point.

Oh, and we have awesome nicknames for each other.

We're a great pair because we're so silly together. We can just have the most fun day when it is just the two of us doing essentially nothing but chores at home because we play around and laugh the whole time. Sometimes this is more fun than planning a fancy night out because we're just more ourselves together at home :)

Paige is awesome because she's Canadian, obv.

We are both nerdy, math types.  If you were/are a nerdy math type, you'd know that it is pretty essential that we mate for life.  We're also both really creative and craftsy.  It makes for AWESOME Christmas gifts (I'd totally AW them but we haven't officially finished the first one yet, so you'll have to wait a bit).  And we both fit in perfectly with each other's families, which is funny, because our families are fairly different on the outside.  On the inside, where family values are, our families are practically identical.

On an unrelated note, we haven't kissed in over a week because we've been sick.  True story.  SO I guess we're both germophobes too.  But at least we disinfected the house this weekend.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

We're good together because we understand each other... We enjoy just spending time together... We don't fight because we're both pretty laid back (him more than me so, when I get stressed about something he brings me down)

The truth is, I don't get crazy like I used to because he has a very calming presence, if that makes any sense...

We make a great pair, cause we BOTH are insanely affectionate.  I feel bad when our friends tell us to get a room.  But also because personality wise he is spontaneous, passionate, active, good with his hands and a romantic at heart, while I'm logical, creative, a planner.  We as cliche as it sounds complete one another.  Plus we're cuddlers.  But what makes FI so perfect, is that dinner is done and waiting for me when I get home and he hasn't disappointed me yet with the delicious food.  Best of all he believes in me, always pushing me to do my best, "come on you can bike up that hill" and as much as I tell him to go hell when I'm peddling my ass up a slippery slope he smiles and tells me I did good when I get to the top.

It always seems like when you try to put your relationship into words, it doesn't do it justice. Don't you think?

I think we make a great couple because at the end of the day, no matter what has happened, we always come back to each other. We make each other laugh. We work through disagreements without name calling (a rule from the start with us). We've faced good and bad - and we always come back to each other.

Edit: If you're looking for that "awww" factor, here's a recent one. The day before my surgery, BF surprised me with a pair of real Pearl earrings. I wear pearls (fake) almost every day. The fact that he wanted to do something so sweet and unexpected for me...I just melted when I opened the box.

I'm going to echo many of you and say that he balances me out.  I'm a worrier and a planner and he's much more laid back and spontaneous.  He's really affectionate which I love.  He's got an incredible sense of humor.

We do have our down moments and we argue but even then I think it's a good thing.  We have never raised our voices at one another and instead of getting too emotional (most of the time) we can actual talk about things.

There's a saying that each pot has a lid, and he's totally my lid. (as sappy as that might sound, I love it.)

DH is awesome because he holds my hair back when have to hug the toilet. It's kind of big deal right now so a little gesture like that makes me happy :)

He'll hold me and let me vent/cry when I feel overwhelmed.

    He likes to cuddle

He can always make me laugh even when I'm in the worst of moods.

BF is amazing because he lets me be myself. He is there and makes everything a good time, from me being hyper and running around the house, to when I just want to lay, cuddle, and watch TV. When we are fighting, he always makes me laugh. It is SUPER annoying when it is happening, but I know that he does it just to make me feel better and move on from the fight. It's cute.

I don't know how to make this point without sounding like "we are so awesome," but all of my friends always tell us that we have the perfect relationship. They all have said that they want a relationship like ours. It is nice to hear and also makes me very thankful for what we have. Wicked cheesy but I love the fact that other people can tell how in love we are.

Thanks! It's really cute that your GPa is shopping for him. That was another thing that I brought up when talking to BF about marriage. I told him I would feel good going into it because my three grandparents that have passed in the past few years met and loved him. He and my grandpa had a special little bond because my grandpa couldn't say his name, so he called him "Ski." Little things like that make me sure that he is the one for me.

FI and I are a great pair because we are equally similar and different.

We are very similar in that there is not a single day that we do not act silly together and of course that we both love Disney. We also have similar views on family and our relationship.

We are also different in that I am a saver while he is a spender. I have helped him get better control of his finances while he has helped me loosen my control on mine. While I tend to have a temper and can be hot headed he reminds me to breathe and not get so worked up all the time.

He is awesome because there is not a single day where he does not make me laugh, smile or tell me how much he loves me.

I am awesome because I love the little quirks that he has that would drive most girls crazy. Also I am pretty handy when it comes to work around the house and on the cars while he is not so handy. He is awesome because he is willing to learn how to do those things from a girl lol.

At the end of the day I know we are perfect for each other because we just fit and work so well together.

  • edited December 2011

We're awesome because we openly communicate. We talk to each other about what we're thinking, what we're feeling, etc. We may not always have conversations we like, but we have them nonetheless.

FI is awesome because when I sat outside my doctor's office crying after getting my endo diagnosis, he looked at me and said, "Honey, I love you. All of you. Even your cranky uterus."

FI is awesome because he sticks by me through sickness and health. He sticks through the doctor's visits, the surgeries, the PMS from hell, the days where I've just had enough and all I can do is cry, the times where it physically hurts for him to touch me and he can't make it better. To him, it's "common sense"...he loves me, and that's what you do when you love someone.

FI is awesome because he always apologizes at the end of a fight. Even if it's obviously, blatantly my fault. I pointed this out the other night and he says, "well, even if it's your fault, it's never 100% someone's fault."

FI is awesome because he puts up with my love/obsession with craptastic SyFy movies.

FI is awesome because he hung Christmas lights outside for me last week. He even found icicle lights with blue lights in them. ::swoon::

    I'm awesome...well, because I am. Duh.

Paige is awesome...well, because she's Paige. Paige automatically = awesomeness. Duh.
