How's everyone doing with..

Their new years dieting/weight loss?

I know a handful of girls were trying to loose some weight/ get healthy, so I was just wondering how it was going for everyone? I honestly have been slacking wicked bad. I did decide today though that I need to really buckle down and get to losing weight. I want to be able to wear what I was this summer. So today I had a piece of grilled chicken for lunch and an orange for a snack. I also bought Power 90, and did it a few times. I think I was doing it at the wring time and I need to do it at a time that I am going to be available everyday. So it begins today after work.

How's everyone else doing? Good? Bad? Tips for others? Anything your proud of?

I've lost 12 pounds (give or take, depending on the day/time of month).  Most of it is not my doing, but simply having my guy cook his crazy Paleo diet stuff.  Oh, and running.  But I've been a slacker the last 2 weeks since my half marathon and still lost weight!

On other New Years Resolutions, I have (mostly) stopped biting my nails.  I do have to get a manicure every week, but they're now long enough that I think I can get a shellac manicure.  And they're pretty enough that I won't be ashamed when I get a ring on there (though it'll be at least another 6 weeks, as that's how long it'll take to custom make it).

I've been doing OK. I committed to a new gym class 3 times a week...I've been going for 5 weeks now, no skips! That's my mini victory since i'm really not into working out at all.

I had gotten way off track with my eating habits...so now i'm reining that back in. I've started my "diet" again and i've successfully reached day 6 today and lost 3.9 lbs! I'm also carrying my water bottle around everywhere...getting in my 80 oz....and peeing like crazy.

I've got a vacation to Puerto Rico in 6 weeks and BF's brother's wedding in 5 months....so those are my current motivations!!!

I was down a little, but I think I'm back up again. I'm on antibiotics for acne, and it makes me hungry all the time!

I've been pretty good about bringing lunch to work instead of going out to eat.

Cate - I just got my first one this past weekend and I LOVE IT! I love french manicures, but with typing and having my hands in files all day long I always destroyed them in a day or two. This looks like I just got it done at lunch today, and I did it Friday afternoon! I can't recommend it enough!!!

I don't want to talk about it either. I am trying to lose 25 pounds.  I think I gained 10.  Hence the reason I took my ticker off.  It depressed me.

I'm trying the South Beach thing.  We'll see how long that works with the Commons.  DARN YOU PRIVATE SCHOOL FOR NOT ALLOWING ME TO MAKE MY OWN FOOD!

I'm only down 2 pounds, but have lost 3% body fat since the beginning of February, thanks to Crossfit. I'm happy with it, but no where near where I want to be. And in AZ, it's already bathing suit season.

I've been trying to drop a few (dozen) pounds, too. I've lost 6 in the last 2 weeks, but for me it's all about what I eat. I am a gym rat, so working out isn't my problem. But of course most of weight loss for me is what I consume. Pie doesn't help. During the week it's fine, but when I'm with BF on the weekends it's hit or miss. Mostly miss. Damn his cheesy goodness (we put cheese on everything!)

I also went from weighing myself every day to once a week and am shocked that it has helped. I used to think weighing myself every day kept me accountable every single day. I would avoid the scale when I knew I was bad because I didn't want to see it. Now I am so anxious that I only get to see that number once a week that I am crazy about making sure it's not higher. It's still somewhat of an obsession, though. Just in a different form.  It also helps that I weigh in on Fridays after a week of good behavior (I'm pretty on top of things Monday-Friday). It's Saturdays and Sundays I am bad.

I blame you girls for not keeping me accountable.

    ;)

It's been up and down. I've slacked over the past couple weeks, but I haven't been doing terribly either. I have lost quite a few inches over the past few months and my muslces are noticeably firmer :) I'm trying to stay postive.

Been doing a little better on the healthy eating. Missed two ballet classes, so I really feel like that slowed me down; before that, I felt like I'd dropped a pound or two. Now I feel like most of it came back! Gah!

However, my ballet buddy friend and I have committed to going to class together (and sometimes hot chocolate or smoothies afterward). So I think things are looking up. :)

We can do it, ladies! My goal is 15 pounds by the end of June and maintenance thereafter.

Hehehe... I need to gain about 10 lbs. It was horrifying when the woman measured my chest and told me I was less than a size 0 in the bust. Thanks. I already knew I was flat chested, no need to remind me how flat!

One of my bm's offered some of her weight to me today. I wish it was that easy!

Can I sit with the "don't wanna talk about it crowd" please? I really need to get my butt in gear too, I've been seriously slacking with the eating, and I've been going to the gym but for lazy workouts.

I'm hoping to lose enough weight/inches to go from size 16ish to size 12ish by August 15th. I really want to make sure I keep muscle this time, rather than crash dieting like I have in the past - which I'm sure is why it keeps coming back on. Does this sound like a reasonable goal? Any tips to help get there?

Good luck to all the rest of you to keep going or get going, depending on what you may need! :)

I'm actually trying to get more toned too.  I'm not fat (being able to say that is my mini victory) but since I stopped taking ballet (because I dealt with the pressure to be thin by not eating, which was unhealthy) I've gotten a little flabby.

allusive, where in Puerto Rico are you going?

SopChick - my best advice is to STICK with it. It gets hard sometimes, but I've been working on it for a few months now (about 5) and while I haven't always been as good at it as I should be, I've lost (and kept off!) 9 inches on my body total. If I worked harder, I could definitely do better but it's great to know those are gone and I've been consistently (albeit slowly) getting smaller over time. I keep telling myself that when I feel like giving up.

I've been on a diet roller coaster.  I haven't updated my ticker in two months because I keep yo-yoing, so even though at one point a couple weeks ago I was down another 2 pounds, the ticker is accurate as of today.

I've come to realize that I don't have the healthiest relationship with food.  It's not an eating disorder per se, more like a love/hate passive-agressive thing.  So right now I'm trying to focus on controling my emotional response to food rather than counting calories.  I've been feeling good about it for the last week or so, so we'll see.  I'm also in MS150 training mode right now, so hopefully I'll rev up my metabolism that way.

Can I join in? I have the opposite problem. I need to gain weight to fit into my dress. I want to do it the right way, by lifting weights and eating more protein, rather than just snacking on junk food!

Bren - Sticking with it is definitely where I'm failing. I've been really inconsistent with my eating and working out. I cut myself some slack during grad school auditions, and I never really picked it back up.

    9 Inches - that's awesome, congrats!

If you have the money you should get a personal trainer. My mom is a body builder and a personal trainner and she also lost 70 lbs a few years ago and while she lost the weight all by herself she did get a personal trainer when she wanted more tone and then eventually for her body building because gaining weight (in a healthy way) was a lot harder than losing the fat.

<div>I totally get this. Half the time I'm going great and feeling good with my food, my intake and my exercise. The other half I'm bitter (so, so bitter) about why I can't eat like a normal person. Why I can't indulge in Chinese and Mexican with my friends and not see 2-3 lbs the next day, while they have no repercussions other than a trip to the restroom. </div><div>

I've been doing the lose five, gain it back thing.

I joined Weight Watchers online last week in hopes that spending money to lose weight will help me be more accountable.

But...I came down with a cold which makes me have NO energy for cooking and eating right. I just want to eat junk when I'm not feeling well. :(
