Fitness update

Well, while last week wasn't a total loss, it wasn't what I expected either. I did my Insanity workouts on Wednesday and Thursday. I figured I'd do Friday's after work, but ended up with a full-on migraine, complete with nausea and vomiting. Ugh.

But I walked two miles with the dogs yesterday morning and then went to a bridal show where I probably walked another two miles. Right now I am all geared up and ready to hit 'play' on my Insanity workout.

How was last week for you? Did you eat the way you wanted to? Do your workouts? See you in 40 minutes!

Re: Fitness update

  • Hey at least its a start and you got two days in and lots of walking.

I on the otherhand, it was my first week to start training for my half in May and didn't run at all. I need to get out there starting today. We are having record high temps here in WI so I have no excuse as to why I am not outside running besides that by the time I get home from work I am exhausted.

  • Pure Cardio = DONE. That was a rough one but I only skipped one exercise. Did I mention I'm doing a half marathon this weekend and haven't run in two weeks? Clearly I don't care about my time... I just want to finish it :)

Stina - think about having some kind of energy drink or chew about an hour before you leave work/get home. That might help. Or a protein bar. That way you have some energy and don't have an empty stomach!

  • That is a good idea! I have been eating Power Bars more often again (used them for my last half) I will definately have to try one at about 3 today and see how that goes!

I bet you do better then you think on your half but didn't you mention a while back that you are running with with a friend or something and not worried about your time? Plus the insanity helps with keeping your HR up so I think you will do awesome!

  • I was a big fat log on my couch all week last week (well when I wasn't running errands & going out that is).  I ate pretty well though & I started taking the african mango pills.  I haven't let myself get on the scale since I last weighed myself (Thursday) because I had gotten into the habit of checking my weight every morning which I know is a no-no.

I started today off with a healthy, filling breakfast (a bowl of Fiber One original & a sliced banana) & I brought my lunch (Lean Cuisine & a bag of Pop Chips) with me so there's no excuses to get off track today.  I have a pretty uneventful week this week so I will be able to work out almost everyday.  Looking forward to trying out Just Dance 2 tonight!!!

  • Tiger- I love you for helping me become a better person...or at this point...want to become a better person. ;)

  • Sorry about the migraine Tiger...those are absolutely no fun!

I worked out a totally of 5 hours last week, surpassing my goal of 3. I'm getting back into my groove at the gym which is nice since I've been a total slacker over the holidays. I actually walked in for class on Tuesday night and all the gals were like "MEGAN! We've missed you!! Where have you been lady?" It felt so great to have friends there...and to get back into my classes. I've got a 45 minute (kick you in the a$$) cardio class tonight...so wish me luck!

    WOO HOO!
  • Aww, Lunar, thank you for that! I'm enjoying Insanity even more this time because 1) I KNOW I'm going to get some kick a$$ results and 2) because I'm not beating myself up if I don't do 6 days. I think it is realistic for me to regulary do 3-5 days a week. If I'm travelling, I'm not going to worry about missing one or two workouts. If this schedule works for me, I might just become an Insanity convert for life! :) (Though I am dying to try Zumba and Just Dance.... time to get a Wii!).

Allusive, keep that momentum going... great job!

  • I've started (and stopped) Insanity about five times. I think not being crazy about doing it every.single.day is key... especially because it's SO HARD. The third and fourth days are always the worst for me, because my calves get so tight, I can barely walk up the stairs, much less do the Plyo workout or Pure Cardio! I think aiming for 3-5 days a week is reasonable... I think, unless you're a super-elite athlete, doing a workout like that every day is just out of the question. Maybe I'll give it another chance, knowing I have an Insane parter on here :-)

  • I had a decent week last week.  A couple easy jogs, a timed mile (which was abysmal, but I've been having trouble breathing so whatever) and 12 miles on the bike.  Still, I'm aiming for a much better week this week.
  • I had an ok week but I definitely should do better. I wanted to weigh myself this morning but I can't find the stupid scale in all my boxes! I'm going to try to go to the gym today but I have a lot I have to get done and I start classes today so I don't know if that will happen. Tomorrow is a gym day for sure though!

  • Allusive: Good job! : )

Bri: Maybe you can do some extra stretches if your calves are hurting you.

    Tiger: Way to go!!

You all are making me feel so lazy. I need to stop making excuses and just get back into my routine!

  • Elannis & Tiger - Thanks for the boost! I do hope to keep it up this year. You both have been so inspirational to me personally...so I just really want to stick with it! I'll try to share my successes as they come - I think sharing with others also helps me stay motivated to stay on track!

I'll be cheering you both along on your goals too!
  • Last week I was a zero for zero for being active, Saturday I did a 20 mile bike ride and proceeded to go home and do the P90x fit test to which made my shoulders and chest sore from the pull ups and push ups that I had to do.  Sunday was once again my lazy day as I kissed lazy days good bye and embark on P90x today.  Yeah...... if you don't hear from me anymore I've passed out or hurt myself.  Gooooo Tiger!  I'll keep you in mind when I'm close to quitting and you'll motivate me on.
  • Moto - you are a machine if you did a 20 mile bike ride and THEN did the fit test! I don't know what I'm going to do in a few weeks when I'm supposed to do a workout and a fit test. Those two things should NOT be done in the same day :)

  • I really need to whip myself into shape.  I need to work out more, and definitely do some abs works outs.  I need to be in a bikini in 2 months.  I also need to eat better as well.
