I hate being female/Also, vacation plans :D

Seriously. I don't get cramps, I just get to feel like sh!t for 2 days, complete with a nearly debilitating headache for 3 days (day before flow comes, then the first 2 days), lack of appetite, and nausea. Awesome. I currently feel like death. Any remedies for this - mainly the headache - are much appreciated (other than painkillers).

In other, exciting, news, I spent the day (before I felt super shitty) planning our trip. Both New York and Eastern Canada got nixed, and now I think I've found a way to make a cruise work within our budget, and I'm really excited for that. Anyone else going on vacation soon? Where are you going? If you're not going, where would you like to go?

I always try to drink some soda or coffee when I have headache. Sometimes a caffeine surge can get rid of it - try to munch on some dark chocolate, too. Feel better!

I am going on a cruise to Bermuda in May (see my ticker!). I seriously cannot wait.

Oh Beads, I feel ya!! I suffer from horrible headaches during that time of the month too! I've found that Excederin Migrane works wonders on my headaches as does caffeine... I usually get a latte or coffee or a cappuccino and it usually helps it somewhat.

I just got confirmation today about a 3 week hiking trip for the beginning of August. We've been waiting to hear if we were approved for the permit and we were!! We're super excited and I'm getting ready to go buy lots of books about the hike and everything we need to do to prepare for it!

Aw, periods are the worst.  Whenever I get a headache, I lay down on my bed pathetically and press/massage my temples then fall asleep.  I hope that someone has a good headache remedy for you! I just get killer cramps, so I'm no help to you.  I once almost vomited on a professor and started crying and went outside.  I laid down on the ground and while crying/doubled over in pain, I called BF to pick me up.  Yuck.

I am going to visit BF for a weekend in spring break and go on a camping trip for four days with some super good friends.  Yay Chiricahuas, please be warm!!!!

The period headache is the worst. I typically go with caffeine.

    I have no vacation's planned :( Well, I guess technically, I'll have a honeymoon in 9.5 months :) We're going skiing!

I usually get bad headaches a day or two before my period begins. But cramps are the worse!!! For two days I'm usually doubled over in pain. Blah.

I'm going to the Outer Banks in NC for vacation this September. So excited. I go every year but it's so much fun all the time.

I'm pretty lucky, as long as I'm on the pill I don't really have any physical PMS symptoms, I just get really moody about a day after I start the sugar pills. When I'm not on the pill though I get SEVERE backaches and really bad headaches.

My boyfriend and I don't have any major vacation plans over the next little while. We have a wedding to go to this summer that's about a 10 hour drive north. It's in a smallish town so not much to do, but it is on a long weekend, and it's only about 2 hours away from where my cousin just moved, so we may stay out there for a little longer. We're also planning a trip to Niagra Falls this fall. I had originally thought that we'd get engaged then but after some hints my bf has dropped recently I'm pretty sure it will be sooner than that (probably sometime this summer). Then there's also my annual family get-together in July. I'ts about 10 minutes away from a super nice resort, and my bf and I have talked about renting a cabin at the resort this year for the week. The cabins are all super nice, right on the lake with HUGE windows looking out on the lake, and they look like log cabins. Each one has a hot tub and bbq. I've stayed there before and it was so much fun.

Oh and I almost forgot my remedy: I found that going for a massage the day before my PMS symptoms were due (when I wasn't on the pill) REALLY helped. It was great because at the time my insurance covered 80% of any massage therapy as long as a doctor prescribed it, and I was limited to 15 massages a year. My new plan only covers up to $300 a year for massages, which really doesn't go far :(

I hate headaches. I used to get them almost daily when I was a bit younger. I think smoking had something to do with it. Were taking a week long Royal Caribbean cruise as our honeymoon to the Bahamas and Caribbean in the beginning of June. FI just told me a couple of days ago that he booked us the owner's suite. I just looked it up online and that thing is nice. I am so excited!

I hate the pre/beginning period headache. Mine seem to be getting bad again despite being on the pill, which probably means I have to look into switching pills again. I always reach right for the pain killers, so I don't have a non-pain killer remedy for you. I find that taking one ibuprofen and one acetaminophen helps me.  Then I veg out in a dark room if it's possible in whatever position stops the throbbing, sometimes with a cool cloth on my head. I hope it feels better soon!

As for a vacation, I want to go anywhere... I haven't ever been anywhere hot, and the last time I did the tourist thing was probably 7 years ago. :( I would really like to go to Ireland, Vienna, and Havana at some point in my life though (clearly not all in one trip...haha)

Where are you planning to go on your cruise?

I'm sorry, that really sucks! I understand though cause these past few days I've been dealing with the same thing PLUS being sick, ugh. For headaches, whenever possible, I try to take a nap and once I wake up it has usually passed.

As for vacation plans BF and I are going to Russia in May! We'll be officially buying our tickets this week. I am so incredibly EXCITED! Ahhh let the countdown begin!!! Laughing

Make sure you're still getting enough water, Beads! If you're feeling sick to your stomach, maybe you're not drinking enough. Being dehydrated makes me have terrrrrible headaches. I second caffeine, too. A cup of tea might be just the thing. Other than that, talk to your doc. Maybe a different form of BC might help. Sorry, hon!

But a cruise sounds fun. I've never been on one. Where are you thinking of going?

My periods with my new IUD have not been friendly. I've been dying in bed the past two days. :( I'm glad I don't have a full-time job right now and could actually afford to do that! I'm kind of missing the hormonal BCPs.

A cruise sounds like fun. Next planned vacation isn't for about six months. I'm getting antsy again!

I ditto making sure you have enough water.  Dehydration headaches are the WORST.  Also a cup of tea, warm and soothing with a caffeine boost, might help you out.  Other than that I'd say rest and Tylenol/ibuprofen.

I'm going to Cuba! *dances* Buttttt not until November so I'm not that excited yet.  Where are you cruising to?!

Good morning everyone! Sorry for the post and run. I wound up taking 2 acetaminophen (on top of the 2 ibuprofen) for the headache, and a gravol for my stomach, and that about wiped me out for the night. Just got up after a fabulous 13 hour sleep and so far only feel mildly crummy (which after yesterday, practically feels like 100%). I'll keep the caffeine in mind. Caffeine often works for headaches for me, but yesterday it wasn't touching it.

All of your holidays sound awesome! I'm jealous (mostly because we haven't booked yet, and we want to go in April, so we need to get cracking). I'm going to CAA (similar to AAA) today to get some info on trips, and hopefully we'll book this week. The cruise I found is the Mexican Riviera out of LA, but BF is nervous about cruising because he's afraid we'll rack up a drink bill (plus the amount we'd spend on excursions). So, I'm going to see what CAA can offer. I'm considering paying for part of the cruise for his birthday gift, which I think he'd appreciate anyway, and then he wouldn't have to worry so much about the cost.
