comfy shoes

So I fully admit that I am a total Skechers hoar. I'm not even sure how many pairs I have at this point--a quick count got me to nine pairs. Well, my cute embroidered "Bikers" flats fell apart after several years of wear, so I needed to replace them. I had been wearing them to work 3-4 days a week.

Off the the Skechers store I went, and I ended up getting these:

They aren't the cutest shoes, but oh my are they comfy! They have super squishy soles. I also love the Skechers Shape-Ups with the big squishy soles. I've had those for over a year now. They do work your calves a little bit, but don't expect them to make much of a difference. I just love them for their comfort.

I also saw some flip-flops in the Skechers store that I want (again, comfy). Somebody stop me!

So, this is a little bit of a show-off, but please share your favorite comfy shoes.

I have a pair of flats I bought last summer at DSW by SE Boutique (SE stands for Sam Edelman). I heart them. Wore them every darned day until it got too cold. I'll see if I can find a pic and come back and post it. :)

I'm in the market for a new pair of comfy shoes (that are also supportive), so this thread could prove invaluable to me!

Oh owwie! I hope your tendonitis heals quickly.

I love them, but they aren't for everyone. My hairdresser got some, and she felt off-balance in them.  Try them in a local store, if you can (or order online from a site with free returns and wear them around your house first).

I walked all over London in my Shape-Ups and while my feet were tired at the end of the day, my heels didn't hurt like they would in regular sneakers.

For reference, I have these: http://www.skechers.com/style/11809/shape-ups-strength/bkw
There are now about 50 more varieties available than when I purchased.

Beads - if you're looking for support, I also recommend these arch supports: http://www.drscholls.com/drscholls/productSearch.do?method=doProductDetailsLookup&searchArg=43

They're about $6 at Target. I even put them in my squishy shoes.

The physical therapist (after I sprained my ankle a few years ago) recommended Superfeet inserts, but I found them really uncomfortable. I now have these Dr. Scholls inserts in several of my shoes. They are padded and have a plastic reinforced arch. They especially help to make flats more comfy.

Leia, I already have custom orthotics, what I need is good shoes to put them in! They don't work nearly as well in crappy shoes (ie the canvas ones I wear on a daily basis).

I have a high arch, so have problems when I wear shoes that don't support my arch.  If I wear my flip-flops for too long, my heels hurt very badly.

I bought some arch supports for my work out shoes and other shoes I wear regularly.

BF's aunt had plantar fasciitis and recommended these to me:

They are so comfortable!  And this particular style is cute enough to wear to work.  I recommend them highly.

I have been unsure about the "Shape-Up" type shoes and recently heard that they could be very damaging to your feet and could change your gait.

The Fit Flops claim to give your legs a workout as you walk, but they don't have the same shaped sole as the other brands do.  I don't wear them because I want more toned calves.  I wear them because they don't kill my feet after I've worn them all day.  Smile

<div>A girl in my ballet class the other day was wearing those exact shoes! I complimented her on how cute they were and asked where she'd gotten them. :)</div>

I don't really believe those claims. I think they work your calves more than a regular shoe, but that's it. I bought them solely for comfort. I haven't noticed any difference, but I also don't wear them every day.

I recently got some Shape Ups, they're the silver mary jane style. I love them. I have to walk on cobblestones all day so the squishy soles absord all the impact that would usually be torturing my feet. Also, I've noticed they make me stand up a bit straighter. I've only worn them a few times so far, but it was enough to see a difference in how my feet feel at the end of the day.

Also Merrell makes amaaaaaaaazingly comfy shoes. They're pretty pricey, but if you can catch them on sale they're totally worth it.
