Pet Names/Nicknames

What unusual nicknames do you and your SO have for each other?

For the ones your SO calls you: are they mostly cutesy/nauseating/sex-related? Or do you have some that are kind of "bro" names? Example: BF calls me [lastname]ski, as if it were a new Russian/Eastern European surname. Smile

I'm also "sugar t*ts" sometimes, as well as ballereezy (which means ballerina).

I'm just now realizing I don't have very many unusual nicknames for BF. None that I can think of right now. Time to get working on that!

He calls me baberella and sometimes boots. Most of our nicknames are nauseatingly cute or they don't make sense at all.

My FI calls me sweet t!ts quite a bit. It has gotten to the point where I want him to stop. He calls me niknik instead of my real name, unless he is being serious. The rest are just nausiating sexy time names.

For him, I really don't have very many nick names. I'll call him Mattie (his name is Matt), but I don't really consider that much of a nick name. I'm pretty boring when it comes to names.

BF calls me: Mocha, Ken, Gomer (when we're being silly)..umm, just little nicknames like that...He comes up with the funniest names ever.

I just call him Gomer because he got me hooked on that term. When he calls me Ken, I call him Bren just because it rhymes...and that's the beginning of his name.

    That's me!!!!! :)

He actually doesn't call me Bren. He calls me Brenna. He's quite fond of using "Beautiful" too. Not very creative, but I don't mind ;) I call him Just or Justin. Neither of us are creative actually. But it is different because everyone else (besides family) calls him by his last name.

His usual term for me is babydoll, nothing too creative, but it has a little more to it than baby and I like it.  The nontraditional one he uses for me is Navigator, for when we are driving somewhere.  He usually drives, and I usually navigate, so that became my "car name".  I'm hoping to get promoted to Navigator Apprentice very soon.  Haha!

I'm not very creative with the name though.  For him, I pretty much stick to babe.

When he wants to be cutesy, he adds the ending "-chen" to my first name. In German, it's a way of making a word sound more cute. For instance a Katze is a cat, while a Kätzchen is a kitten. Whenever he does this, it makes me smile.

He has a pretty unique nickname that he goes by full time, and has ever since he was a teenager. People just know him as this name, they're always surprised to find out his real name. The only people who refer to him by his real name are his parents and his colleagues.

I call him Snickerdoodle.  His name is Nick, and at some point I started calling him "snick", and snickerdoodle came from that.  I think it's cute and unique, plus snickerdoodles are delicious.  Sometimes I just call him doodle or doodle-bug.

He either calls me "Macinator" (an inside joke that's based on my real name), or "Peaches".  I don't really remember how the "Peaches" thing came about.

I call him Mishka, which is teddy bear in Russian. His name is Michael/Mike (Misha in Russian) so from Misha I changed it to Mishka! :)
He calles me love or beautiful usually; not very creative but I love them.

Also, we use poopa?! I'm not exactly sure where that one came from. I think it started off as we were talking about getting a puppy and somehow puppy changed to poopa...and now our furbaby even answers to poopa along with her actual name, Maia.

I call him BF and he calls me GF. I can't remember how we started using those as nicknames. I also call him Snuggle Muffin. I started using as a joke once to be obnoxious and playful. He countered with Snuggleufagus. Neither of us are big on pet names so I just tried to pick the most obnoxious thing I could think of so I could get a rise out of him.

    Omg, we have SOOO many.

Honey, bear, bearface, cub, snuffalupagus, monkey, sweetie, cutie, ugly, lovebug, floppy eared bunny, stinky, stinkles, snuffleton, munkleton, munkles, and there's probably more I can't think of off the top of my head...yes, I know.  We're weird.

We also make up songs, which incorporate these names, and sing them to each other.

Sometimes it's just the typical names such as "baby." When he's trying to be cute its Salamanda or Manda Panda. Then when I'm grumpy it's Amandasaurs Rex. :)

In German "-chen" is actually used to describe something as little.  You used a perfect example, a kitten is just a little cat.  It is just like the Spanish ending of "-to" or "-ta".  I suck at explaining this.

I call him Schnecke (snail), Schneckchen(little snail), baby-bear, baerchen(little bear), Schatz(treasure), Schatzi, Jimbear.  He calls me Schatz, Schnecke, Ambear, huebschen ("little cutey"), cutey, baby lover, a ton more mushy names, and he once called me woermchen (little worm) but stopped once some Germans called him out and told him it can be taken as "little penis" in German slang.

The BF is fluent in German, so that explains all the German petnames.

Thanks for the correction, my German isn't that great so it's good that you came along ;-)

In regards to the bold part, I may be incorrect, but can't Schnecke can be taken in a similar offense by some Germans? According to FI, it's a bit like calling someone the c*** word. He explains that in a social context, it's OK when women do it. Men, not so much I guess.

My German is awful.  The poor BF is constantly explaining things to me.

We use Schnecke pretty much all the time and have yet to receive any flack from Germans.  Schnecke is also a type of cinnamon-roll pastry because it is shaped like a snail.  The c*** word is the WORST thing you can call anyone in German, and they don't mind curse words, they aren't as taboo as in America.  I will ask BF about the Schnecke/c*** thing because I have no clue.  He works with Germans and can ask them about it.  I'm very curious now haha.  It would be good to know before we go back to Germany and use that word all over the place, how embarrassing that would be!!!!

His name is Matthew, Matt for short, so I call him Matchew. I don't know why but I always have. I call my my Matt also, and Matty face just to annoy him. He HATES being called Matty.

My brothers girlfriend's name is Mattie and she has a sister name Mica. Recently her sister got married to a man named Micah. So it's Mica and Micah. We always tease Matt and Mattie shoudl get together so it could be Mica and Micah and Matt and Mattie. haha It's a good thing they don't take us seriously....

ETA: He calls me sugar lips, Rage, my middle name is Renee and a nickname my uncle gave me when I was going through my teen years was Rage Penee, instead of Paige Renee and it's stuck. My favorite though is "stinky" :)

We don't really have a lot of nicknames for each other.  We both use honey and sometimes I call him baby.  Sometimes he calls me "crazy woman" 'cause I can get pretty anal about some things and he just laughs, gives me a kiss and calls me a crazy woman (or he tells the animals that their mommy is a crazy woman).  I call him "rotten".  It started when we were first dating and he'd say something that would make me blush and the 1st time I just blurted out "you're rotten!" and it stuck.  Now anytime he says or does something obnoxious (not just to make me blush), I call him rotten and he loves it.

Wow, we are lame. We pretty much just call each other babe. He finds it odd to call each other by our real names to each other, but I love hearing him say my name (maybe because he does it so infrequently)!

Lately, though, we also call each other 'Peggy'. As I mentioned on another thread, there are those credit card commercials with the guy who answers the phone and says 'This is Peggy.' They crack us up, so we occasionally throw that in there and it's always good for a laugh.

I love this thread! Sometimes when we're cuddling I'll call my boyfriend Grumblebear because he always seems unfriendly and grumpy to people who don't know him well but he's really a sweetheart. He calls me babe all the time. The only time he uses my name is when he's mad at me which I wish he would get out of that habit. So no nickname for me besides Babe =/

Spanish does the same thing.  Adding -ito or -ita changes a word to the diminutive form, but it does have a cute/affectionate connotation.  For example, saying "mamacita" literally means "little mother", but it doesn't mean that your mother is short or small.  It's almost a term of endearment.
