Confessions of a Lurker

Hi, I am a self confessed lurker but decided to step up my game. I don’t take much too seriously, so I probably won’t bite anyone’s head off for saying they are “pre engaged” whatever- I don’t care what fantasy land you live in as long as you amuse me.  I am not 18…ot 16…or even 23 for that matter.  I consider myself a well adjusted classy 28 year old professional.  I also go to school fulltime, maybe one day I will have my law degree.

Been dating my BF for 10 months or so.  He is without a doubt, my soul mate.  Don’t laugh- I have had a ton of experience and boyfriends, so I am allowed to define my relationship as such (even after only 10 months).  I met him on eharmony.  I am also a self proclaimed nerd, and do random hobbies.  Such as dungeons and dragons, all while wearing the cutest hot pink polka dot heels you’ve ever seen.  I am fascinated by pirates and cats doing funny things.  I am snarky, but for the most part I am just honest.  I think weddings are fun, but do not define a marriage…….although bows cupcakes and sparkly things drive me wild.

    My BF's nickname is Roo.

Also, I like pirates too. My class actually spent half the year in Grade 6 learning about historical pirates.

well, maybe you can have a giant blingy diamond encrusted money sign necklace for your wedding day. actually, you just need that for everyday.  it's delightfully tacky, which is a personal favorite of mine.

Sometimes I do wonder if that's possible. Do parents ever look at their kids and go "you are NOT cute right now." Because I don't think new-newborn babies are cute. And I'm one of those people who loves kids.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that.  I knew my FI was 'the one' after only a few months.  We didn't rush anything though.  We've been together now almost 2 years and just barely got engaged about 2 weeks ago.

I would only give you the side-eye if it's only been 10 months and you were already married, but even then...that kind of depends on the person.

    I don't like teenagers.

My kid sister just turned 12, and we're straying away from being as tight as we used to be.  She's hitting the teen years BAD.
    Our most recent arguement:

Me: No, you can't wear skinny jeans to Sunday morning services.
Her: Why not?  You can't see through the rips!
    Me: Denim isn't appropriate.
Her: They're not denim.  They're  purple. (Sticks out tongue)
Me: Purple is a color.  Denim is a fabric.
    Her: So?

don't scare me you guys! nothing good in life is necessarily "easy!"  lol.

as far as the rush into things etc.  I woulda married him yesterday if I could.  Not for the ring, not for the party, but because when you have a crap load of bad relationships and you grow up you know exactly what you want.  I am serious, In March of 2009 I broke up with my then 2 year boyfriend, and I proceeded to date 17 differen't people until I met my current BF last December.  Some were just 1 date, others were 3 dates- but after my last breakup, i knew EXACTLY what I wanted what i didn't want etc.  So if they weren't right, they got cut loose and I didn't give a second chance to any of them.  I was completely cutthroat about it.

Yeah, law school can test a relationship for sure.  Especially 1L year... or if you're crazy like my boyfriend and decide to found a student organization, a new law review, and a clinic within your first two years.

That said, if it's what you want to do, then do it!  Just make sure your significant other is along for quite a ride, because it's emotionally and physically consuming.  We joke that the library is his mistress.

    Welcome!

As someone who works with high school students on a daily basis, I agree wholeheartedly.  I find it difficult to believe that I was ever part of that rude, self-absorbed, melodramatic cohort.  I'm generalizing, of course, but that's the way the average teenager seems to me.
