So I'm sitting here at work all giddy because I sent my resume in for a new job. I sent it to someone I know over there that brings the resumes right over to the recruiting director and all of the ones he has done so far have gotten jobs. I am not getting my hopes up, but hoping for the best.

With this I have started thinking about how my life is turning out and how it is completely different from what it could have been. For example, before BF I had two other long, semi-serious relationships. One of which now had a daughter with his GF and the other is a Heroin addict and so is his GF and she writes all over FB about how she is going to kill herself.

So I thought we could play a game of sorts. Fill in the following:
If I had ________ I would be ________ now.

If I had not been fired from my last job I would be miserable and/or unemployed now

If I had stayed with my first love I would be stuck supporting his ass through his 2nd college degree since he couldn't figure it out with the first one, while living in my hometown, probably with my parents now

If I had not moved to Florida without a job or any money I would be missing out on an amazing home, a fantastic job, and a great life now.

If I had stayed with my ex I would probably have been married and divorced by now.

If I had applied myself more a few years ago I would be done with college by now.

If I had done either of those things I wouldn't be with the love of my life now.

If I had went to Calgary I would have ended up alone and confused in a big city....eep

If I had married the "man" I loved at 19 I would be divorced by now.

If I had not taken this job I would be in Florida by now.

If I had not left my last job I would be doing work right now (LOL - I have NOTHING to do at my current job most of the time)

If I had stayed with my ex I would be either in a mental-health facility or dead right now

If I had stayed with my ex from college I would be living in Brooklyn in a 3 million dollar brownstone but have the worst in-laws on the planet now

If I had actually paid attention in college and declared Accounting as my major I would be utilizing my degree and have a much better job now

If I had not taken the risk and gone out on a date with BF I would be missing out on the best relationship I've ever had now

If I had not had a mental breakdown in the middle of the semeter, I would be much farther along in my outlining right now.

If I had not made a bad decision of where to go to undergrad, I wouldn't have transferred colleges.

If I had not transferred to BU, I would have never met FI.

If I had gone to Vanderbilt Law, like my brother told me to, I would be in enormous debt and freaking out about doing well enough to get a corporate law job right now.

If I had not taken an extra year of high school I would not be a) with BF, or b) in University now.

If I had not moved out of that terrible housing situation 10 months ago I would have most definitely had a breakdown this summer and would probably be a term behind in class.

If I had _been right in my thoughts on my first date with DH__ I would be _not married to him_ now. (Going into our first date I didn't think it was going to go anywhere past a few dates at maximum because we met on myspace and anyone I had ever met online didn't amount to much.)

If I had one more day off I would be napping (or at least TRYING to nap) with my pup now.

If I had never turned my boss in for sexual harassment I would be bringing home a paycheck  now.

If I had  stayed in an endless cycle of crap with my ex-BF or my ExH I would be still employed, miserable and would have never looked twice at FI. 

If I had been better with money in my early 20's I would be much happier but I would have missed out on a lot of experiences.

If I had went to a different college like I wanted to, I would have an entirely different life and I wonder if FI and I still would have ended up together.

If I had not been let go from my "dream job" last month, I would be dealing with and endless stream of crap now.

If I had switched to a fancy-pants prep school when I had the opportunity in high school, I would probably be addicted to drugs and/or video games right now (if the stats set by most of their graduates mean anything).

See I am the complete opposite. If I hadn't switched I'd be doing all of the above.

Oh, good for you!  I think that this particular school is just full of too-smart kids getting their first real taste of freedom.  It spells disaster for a lot of them.  I like to think that I would have been mature enough to stay on the right track, but I honestly have no idea.

If I had stayed with my high school ex I would be a police officer's wife and living in the same town I grew up in.

If I had stayed with my college ex I would be living in San Francisco taking care of him while he attends raves and drinks every night

If I had not ventured out of my comfort zone and moved away for college  I would not have my amazing boyfriend, dog, house and working towards such a rewarding career now.

I love thinking a long these lines sometimes. It really helps put things in perspective for me!
