So there's a recycling/ReUse center in my city that's kind of like salvation army only more furniture/home construction type stuff. They also sell UrbanWood, which is reclaimed wood from trees taken out in cities instead of typical lumber. It's pretty cool here's a link (
UrbanWood). Well we went this mornign and found a GORGEOUS piece of Apple tree wood. We are going to make a coffee table out of it. And it was only $50, which is pretty reasonable considering that tables like we're making can go for really expensive. They also had a beautiful piece of walnut that was around 2' by 9' that I really wanted, but I would have no clue what to do with it considering we are in an apartment. Plus that was $150. So anyways, here are pics of the wood. Pic 1 will be the top of the table.

So now we have to figure out what we're going to do for the legs. I'm thinking some kind of metal to be a good contrast to the wood and not get too rustic. I also need to figure out the best way to treat it. Obviously the cut part will be polyurethaned, but I'm not sure if that will work ok on the rougher part of the wood.
I'm so excited to see how it turns out!
