So FI and I are having our wedding reception in an art gallery. We received a call today from the gallery owner saying that she couldn't negotiate new lease terms with the owner of the building that she rents, and she is moving her gallery.

Uhh...ok. I'm not really sure what to think. I'm kind of in shock and kind of sad. Luckily the new space is only a few blocks from the old space. But I'm kind of worried because she said the space is a little smaller and that she *thinks* she can still fit us all in there... Plus there's the matter of the renovations on the building getting done in time for our wedding.

Never a dull moment in wedding planning!

Yikes! Is there a back up plan? I hope that the new gallery will be done and can fit you all.

Thanks! She didn't really give us any other options and by now I'm pretty sure it's too late to find another place. Hopefully everything will work out!

I remember when you decided on the art gallery. Are you kinda wishing you'd gone for the banquet hall now?

Yaga- Yeah I guess making a few calls to some other places wouldn't hurt.

Elle- actually I'm still glad we went with the gallery. But ask me again in a few months, lol.

The owner said we would be able to come in and have a look at the beginning of March, and that hopefully most of the stuff would be done by then.

mookow, I'd start looking for another place NOW. If you won't even be able to go in and see the space until March, what happens if it doesn't work for you? If you paid a deposit, they should release you from it so that you can find somewhere that is absolutely suitable to you. Keep in mind you'll need to put th evenue on your invitations, so you can't necessarily wait until the last minute to decide... I'm sure it will all work out though!

Oh wow Moo, that really sucks. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, I can't even imagine. I agree with PP, I think you should try finding a new venue ASAP, it'll be easier 4 months out than it'll be 2 months out. I can't believe you can't even see the new space until March. That's so frustrating.
