Interrogation Room: Shoes

Since it's my 23rd birthday, and I have no intention of paying attention in class today, I figured I'd sign on for an interrogation.

Ask me anything biitches!  I'm an open book!

My favorite cheese...that's SO tough.  I love cheese.  I eat all kinds.  My absolute favorite is a Portuguese cheese whose name, translated, means Flamingo Cheese.  It has a hot pink wax outside and is pure yumminess inside.  DROOL.

I LOVE Asian food.  I love sushi, Japanese food, Chinese food, Thai food, and Vietnamese isn't bad either.  FI and I go out for sushi at least twice a month.

Do you believe each person only has one soul mate?

What is the best thing about your best girlfriend?

"to be, or not to be?" Is that really the question?

You seem pretty open book about most things. Is there any subject you won't discuss?

Do you believe each person only has one soul mate?

I'm not sure.  I think it's possible to be compatible with more than one person, and each love relationship is different, but I don't know if there's one overarching soul mate.

What is the best thing about your best girlfriend?

We've been friends for so long that I don't have to explain the intricacies of my life to her.  She's been there, seen it first hand, and gets it.

"to be, or not to be?" Is that really the question?

It is if you're Hamlet.  I think if you're a regular person, the question really is:  How can I live the best life possible while I'm here?

You seem pretty open book about most things. Is there any subject you won't discuss?

Umm...there are topics that I won't readily discuss, but I'd say it's impossible to broach a subject that I absolutely refuse to discuss, especially if I think discussing it could benefit someone else.

What is your favorite day of the year?

    Christmas

Would you rather be a spatula or a whisk?

A whisk.  It's more elegant looking.

What are your favorite shoes? Shoe brand?

My favorite shoes that I own are grey suede Michael Kors maryjane pumps.  They have black patent leather trimming.  They're gorgeous and I got them at a hella sale at the Michael Kors store...on sale from $385 to $22.  My favorite shoe brand is Christian Louboutin because they're beautifully crafted...but I can't afford them.

How do you feel about blueberries?

    LOVE them...and they're a pretty color.

Why is it still asss cold here?

I don't know, but I'll cry if it's not done snowing.

How do you like your eggs?

I like either egg white omelets with mushrooms or eggs over easy.

What are you afraid of (rational/irrational)?

I'm afraid of losing people I love.  I'm afraid of dying.  And I freak out at the sound of ice cracking.  It really bugs me.

Are there certain requirements that have to be fulfilled before you can fall asleep?

I can sleep through pretty much anything.  I'm heavy sleeper.  If I'm tired enough, I can sleep with my clothes on, with the lights on, on the couch...you name it.  I once slept through a fire alarm at college.  That's probably not safe.

Is your accent all there yet? (As in have you dropped your R's from your vocabulary?)

What three lessons do you want to pass on to your future children?

Does you school give you discounts to Boston Sports events? I'm dying to go to either a Celts or Bruins game.

What are you doing for your birthday?

Super fun things, like going to class, meeting with my study group, and doing a deposition assignment.

What's your favorite thing about Boston?

It's a beautiful city, which is big enough that there are things to do, but it doesn't feel claustrophobic like NYC does.

Is your accent all there yet?

No.  I have no Boston accent.  I like R's.

What three lessons do you want to pass on to your future children?

    1.  Respect yourself.  Love yourself.  Trust your instincts.  If you don't, no one else will.

    2.  Know your strengths and be confident in your abilities, but have a healthy dose of humility.

    3.  Take a minute each day to look at the sky.  It helps to put things in perspective.

Does your school give discounts to Boston Sports events?

    No.  Frown

What do you think FI will get you?  Do you celebrate Bdays?

FI got me Marc Jacobs sunglasses and Lululemon yoga pants.  He's a sweetie.  I usually celebrate birthdays, but this one will probably be low-key.

    How's school?

It's good.  I'm typing this and being cold called in Property at the same time.  That's talent.

What's your favorite brand of shoes?

    Dream shoes:  Christian Louboutin.
    Realistic shoes:  Charles David

    Favorite candle scent?

Vanilla cupcake.  I like sweet scents.

If you had million dollars to give to one charity, what would it be?

I'd start my own nonprofit that was sort of a combination of a juvenile defender firm and a rehabilitation center for troubled youths, that was heavily focused on education and counseling.

<div>I haven't slept through one, but I once attempted to turn off my alarm clock.  It was actually the fire alarm.  Ours is weird, and has been on crack all year (going off for absolutely no reason, and the fire department showing up), and so when it goes off it goes Bee 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 BAH BAH BAH BAH.  And the pause is just long enough for you to think you imagined it. </div>

wow - this thread is bringing up all kinds of memories for me today!

I was a beer wench one year for Halloween (my company used to have a costume competition). Anyway, I take the train and this guy walks up and says "what are you supposed to be, a slutty Dorothy?". I was so embarrassed! My skirt was well below my knees, my top showed no cleavage....and I was wearing a BLOND wig. Nothing sexy about the costume...and Dorothy isn't German-looking at all anyway. LOL - made me laugh just remembering it now...

    1.  Greece
    2.  Israel
    3.  France

What kind of pet do you want?

I love Gemini, but I'd like another dog or a bunny.

    Are you a morning person?

    No.  Before 8am, I'm wonky.

    What's for lunch?

I went to UBurger and had a burger, fries, and a milkshake.  YUM.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

Snails, rabbit, squid, pig snout, pig ears, pig feet, octopus...

What's the top 3 things on your bucket list?

    1.  Travel
    2.  Have children
    3.  Go skydiving

Where do you guys want to go on a honeymoon?

    Blue shoes!

We're speaking.  There was no apology, but I knew better than to expect that.  I'm still angry and hurt, but I'm not going to waste my time or energy by being actively angry.

    Happy birthday!

When you first started wedding planning, you hit some speedbumps and had to make some big changes (I'm thinking the STD's and date changes... but of course the budget fiasco fits in there too). What did you learn from all this that you'd pass on to other would-be brides?

You've mentioned you plan to swipe some of Oceana's beautiful DIY. Are there any other Knotties whose weddings have inspired you? Who and what?

Name 3 Knotties you admire, and tell us why.

Best advice you've ever received? Did you take it?

DH just bought a new video game (Dragon Age 2). Does your FI play video games? Do you? Which ones, if so? Anything you'd be interested in playing that you haven't tried?

Do you like coffee? I do.

What did you learn from all this that you'd pass on to other would-be brides?

Oh man...don't plan on having any money in your budget until it's in your bank account.  Also, keep an open mind about what a wedding is.  At the end of the day, all you need is a marriage license and an officiant.  Everything else is negotiable.  Know what options you feel are necessary for YOU and know what you're willing to compromise on.

You've mentioned you plan to swipe some of Oceana's beautiful DIY. Are there any other Knotties whose weddings have inspired you? Who and what?

YES!  Katanne's wedding is a huge inspiration.  I am definitely stealing the idea of dying white wedges royal blue.

Name 3 Knotties you admire, and tell us why.

    1.  Cate:  She is smart, articulate, helpful, well-intentioned, and a very sweet person.  She is never afraid to be herself.  I have a lot of respect for her.
    2.  Oceana:  She's badass and unapologetic about it.  She wins the NEY award for Most Likely to kickass and take names.
    3.  GPB:  She's an amazing writer.  She's very sweet.  And her sarcasm is hilarious.

Best advice you've ever received? Did you take it?

The best advice I've ever received was from my Godmother.  She said, "No matter where you go or what you do, you'll always be your mother's daughter, your brother's sister, and my Goddaughter.  If you're about to do something you wouldn't be proud doing in front of any one of us, chances are, you shouldn't be doing it."  And I try to live by that advice.

DH just bought a new video game (Dragon Age 2). Does your FI play video games? Do you? Which ones, if so? Anything you'd be interested in playing that you haven't tried?

FI plays Starcraft 2 and Diablo 2.  I play Diablo 2.  I can't wait for Diablo 3 to come out!  I'd love to try WoW.

Do you like coffee?  YES!  I drink a large iced coffee from DD every morning.

ETA:  I was just thinking, I have to add Audgie to Knotties I admire.  She's an amazing mom and a strong woman, and who can't admire that?

Side note: I got my Louboutins on mega-clearance. If you hit the right places at the right times, you can get some pretty fabulous stuff at about 70% off! I've had great luck at Jeffrey (NYC Meatpacking District) and Saks.
