I was in the last group of brides to get married on Sunday! As much as I couldn't wait for the wedding, I am so relieved that its over! The whole day was a lesson in "things will turn out exactly the way they are supposed to". The weather was perfect, in spite of the gloomy forecasts. The one big hiccup was that our chaplain didn't show up and no one was able to reach him. I couldn't figure out why we were running behind, they didn't tell me until the absolutely had to, but they told me with a glass of champagne to curb the freak out. Fortunately we found out the day before that his cousin is a minister in AZ, so we had her put together an impromptu ceremony and planned on making it legal later in the week. The ceremony she ended up putting together was beautiful and exactly what we had originally wanted. Most of the guests didn't know what was up. Our chaplain showed up during our meal service 2 hours after our ceremony was supposed to have started with a bunch of weak excuses. I told him that all I wanted was for him to make it legal. He talked to H's cousin about the ceremony that she had performed, then did a pronouncement of the marriage and filled out the paperwork. He offered to do a full ceremony in front of our guests but I told him that we didn't want anything more to do with him and that the ceremony that his cousin was able to put together was perfect and that we were going to rejoin our guests. When we went back in, we announced "We're legal!" Everyone that knew what was going on, and a lot of people had figured it out or heard about it at that point, got a good laugh. After everything was said and done, I wouldn't change a thing, the wedding was beautiful and everyone had a great time.
