Working at a humane society... (PIP)

...is dangerous when you're sad and vulnerable after losing your dog. Why? Because you blink and find out that you signed a bunch of papers and then there are two dogs waiting in your car.

Meet Libby the pugle, and Ubee the border collie/shepherd. They do this in my living room now:

I still miss Bumbledog terribly, but I'm glad to be giving these two a home.

(This may be a bit of a post and run for a little while. I'll be back later though).

AWE.  Losing a dog is like losing a family member.  I still miss Oscar the Yorkie, and he's been gone for 4 years.

    Libby and Ubee are ADORABLE!

Aww congrats <3 I could never work at a humane society for the very same reasons, LOL. Looks like they're getting along just fine. You're going to miss him terribly for awhile, it's normal. Getting another dog (or two!) seems to always help though.

They are adorable! Helping out at the humane society is how I ended up with my dog too.

The other day I was walking my dog and a black pug followed us the entire mile long walk. By the time I got back to my apartment complex a guy sitting on his porch asked me if he was mine. I asked the kids who always play by my apartment if they knew who he belonged to, thankfully they did and took him back. I do have to admit I had fun with the little stalker pug!

<div>They do this all.the.time.  Whenever we're at the park I have to watch my dogs, and other pugs, b/c they'll follow whomever looks good.  It's really amusing!</div>

He stayed about ten to 15 feet behind us and every time I turned to make sure he was still there and hadn't tried to run away, he would look in a different direction to pretend he wasn't following us. What made it even better was that he was wearing a very colorful sweater with a heart on it. He totally made my day!

::Hugs:: again about Bumbledog. I know you must miss him, but I'm sure he was just the happiest dog to have had you to take care of him for so long!

Congrats Zipi! Ubee is totally the kind of doggie FI wants.

And this is why I hesitate to volunteer at the pound. It would be so hard to not take everyone home with me.

Oooohhh new doggies! I know it sounds weird, but I think the best way to get over losing a dog is to give another one - or two - a home.

Puggles are so sweet!! And Ubee has beautiful eyes =)

Enjoy them; Bumbledog wouldn't want you to be sad.

    Adorable.

But yes, I could never volunteer/work at any sort of animal shelter because I'd be bringing home EVERY animal. We're already overloaded as it is!

Zip I am so sorry hear about Bumbledog... What a sweetheart. He'd be glad to know you are happy and are being cared for by your new pupper dogs. And your new "kids" are very lucky to have you as a new mom! Hugs.

    I knew you'd like Libby, Paige :P

The only reason I'm able to work at this one is because it's a no-kill shelter. Otherwise I would take every animal I saw home! D:

The funny thing about Ubee is that he's actually really calm. You would think that with the two breeds he has in him he'd be bouncing off the walls, but nope. He's content to hang out on the couch all day long :P

Your new buddies look so happy to be with you! I agree with others who have said that Bumbledog wouldn't want you to be lonely or sad. When I read your post about him I teared up... it's so hard to lose them.

I remember adopting Pouncival, and how much joy and comfort he brought to my life after losing my dog a couple years prior. I wasn't sure I could love like that again, but these crazy furballs have a knack for creeping into your heart and making themselves at home.

Congratulations on your new family members!
