[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Popular Names of 2010 : I'm almost the complete opposite. I also have a very uncommon name and the only place I found it on keychains or mugs or anything else was in England, which was weird and thrilling! But I hate my name still. I want my future kid to have an easier time. A friend of mine wanted a name for her daughter that was easy to say and spell, pretty and feminine but common, but not a name you hear all the time (she named her Nina). I liked her reasoning and will probably follow it for my own kid(s).

Ha ha I know where you are coming from. I love my name now and honestly I would not want any other name.

My name is German and it is a family name. I was named after my mother and she was named after her aunt.

My name is beautiful and feminine and I have learned to love it. I can most certainly understand how someone else in a similar situation could hate their name though.

BF is a "3rd" and he wants to have a "4th". I am resolutely opposed to this idea for a variety of reasons, and he knows that going into it.

Both of us have rather formal sounding full names, and there's something to be said professionally for having a somewhat mainstream name without the "modern spelling" twists. So we'd probably want something somewhat traditional.

For boys, we've talked about James Henry - my Dad's middle name, and BF's middle name (thus his father and grandfather's middle name as well). So I'm sure it's somewhere on the Top 100 list, but not the most popular as it's so traditional.

For girls, he likes Julie, I like Juliana. Again, probably popular, but not massively so.

Even though I'm not sure I ever want kids, I've thought about names before.

BF and I both like Juliet for a girl (even though I hate the Shakespeare character) and I really like Gabriel (shortened to Gabe for daily use) for a boy.

Gabriel is my 2nd favorite boys' name (Isaac being #1) but I can't name my future son that for 2 reasons. One being that Jewish people name their children after a deceased relative, and neither FI or I have a deceased relative whose name begins with a G. Second, the lead singer of one of my and my friend's favorite bands is also named Gabriel and my friends will tease me =/

BF and I both have family names and would like our children too. Thomas is the male family name on his side and Lee is the family name on my side (Leigh for girls). Lain is my female family name. We have pretty much decided to merge names of brothers, sisters, and use family name. Example: Brandon (my brother) + Ashleigh (his sister)= Brayleigh (girl name)
A boy name would be Ryder Thomas.

My name was supposed to be Olivia, but at the last minute, my mom changed it to a name that made me one of 5 in EVERY CLASS! I hate my name. I had an abundance of all that cheap crap with my name on it. And it didn't make me like being the 5th [insert name] in line any better. So I always said that I would name my future daughter Olivia, because it was my great-grandmother's name, it was supposed to be my name, and it wasn't very popular. And now the rest of America's gotta go and ruin it for me by naming all their daughters Olivia. :( Well, maybe in the next 5 or 10 years before I have a girl it will fall back out of circulation.
