Not Engaged Yet

The Watch!

As many of you know, I plan to propose to my BF at some point after he proposes to me.  I want to buy BF a nice watch that can be as much of an heirloom for him as my engagement ring will be for me.

I've been casually looking, as I planned to use my bonus from my February event to pay for it.  But I just found this watch, which is a brand I've been considering, and it's more than 50% off right now!  So I could afford it right now.

I think it's perfect!  It's way less than I had intended to pay for the watch, but the original price range is right where my budget was, so I'm getting an excellent quality watch for a great price.

BF likes VERY simple, classic faces to the watches (none of the extra dials or stuff), and silver for sure, with a black face (though he likes mother-of-pearl, it's expensive and hard to find in men's watches, and he also worries a white face would be difficult to see the time at night).

What I especially love about this watch is that there are tiny numbers on the inside of the big numbers, which indicates military time (like "22 hundred hours", for example).  How cool is that?!  He'd LOVE that feature!

Thoughts?  I'm really excited that I'm going to be buying his "engagement watch".  Eeeeep!

That's a sexy watch.  Plus, it's timeless, so it'll be perfect for the heirloom piece you want.

ETA:  I just realized there's a little irony in referring to a watch as "timeless".  I'm easily amused.

Beautiful!  I think he'll love it.

I just picked BFs watch up from the jeweler.  They fixed the band, but couldn't replace the face.  We have to contact Bulova for parts.  ugh.

I like it! :)  I think BF wants a new watch for Vday, but I'm not good at picking out watches, so we'll have to see.

Thanks ladies!  For any of you who are saying you're thinking of buying a watch (either for yourself or your guy), check out ideeli.com - they're selling this brand and Esq by Movado for 50% off or more. (I dunno if you need an invitation - if so, message me your email and I'll invite you).

I was actually thinking about the watch thing today, it's such an awesome idea.

I just signed up for the website, you don't NEED a code to register but I just realized that if I had asked you for one before signing up that you would have gotten a $25 credit. So just as a heads up if anyone else is going to sign up.

At any rate, those are some really great deals, thanks for sharing!

Edit: I just read the fine print, Cate only gets the $25 credit if someone she invites actually buys something.

Thanks!  I was sooo excited when I bought it last night, but obviously I can't tell BF.  And it'll be at least a few months before I'll give it to him.  But it was such an incredible deal ($175 for a $525 watch!) and it was the PERFECT watch!

I bet this is how guys feel when they buy the engagement ring.  I'm giddy and excited and nervous.  It's all quite real now!  He'll wear this watch the day we get married - yipes!

Haha... I'm actually pretty good at keeping secrets!  BF is terrible usually.  He tried to give me my birthday present a week early, and I had to beg him to keep it until my actual birthday so I'd have something to unwrap.

I'll post again a picture when I get it (I'm gonna try it on, since I know how BF's watch now looks so I'll know if it needs to be sized at all).  And then you'll hear about it when I give it to him!

I'm definitely impatient though.  I'll probably propose to him only a few weeks after he proposes to me.  The suspense will kill me!
