Health Update....

I just spoke to my doctor about the results from my biopsy and he said I have grade-2 dysplasia & it's pre-cancerous.  He also said though that because I'm young he's sending them to be tested again.  If the results come back the same then I'll need to have treatment (either freezing or LEEP).  Since I'm going to be out of the country next week I won't know anything until January 2nd.

I'm not doing ok right now & could use some hugs please.

Re: Health Update....

  • hugs! Dealing with health stuff is never fun, and just adds uneeded stress to a situation that doesn't need it!

  • Huge hugs going your way!! It may sound scary, but the good news is that they've found it and they're taking steps to take care of you! I don't know anything about dysplasia, but if it's pre-cancerous, then there's a great chance that they can take care of it before it reaches a cancerous stage, right? We're all here for you! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. : (

  • Thanks girls.

I'm trying to stay positive. It is great that it's not cancer & we caught it & it can be treated.  It's just scary, really scary.

I'm comforting myself with pizza :)

  • Aw im sorry to hear that. Sending lots of hugs your way. That is not fun having to wait esp when its something that can be serious.

    Question, what is LEEP?

  • So many hugs, prayers, and vibes on their way to you rdr. My bestie had to have pre-cancerous cells removed from her cervix/uterus when she was 21 - everything went really well for her and she's had no issues since. I hope it all goes as well as it possibly can for you, and we are all here if you need ANYTHING at all!
  • ***HUGS*** I'm so sorry to hear about this rdr... I know how not fun the whole situation is. But, the good thing is that if the tests come back the same, you can treat eeverything right away and avoid further health issues. **HUGS**

  • YIKES. Hugs, hugs, hugs, hugs! I totally get the pizza. The good thing is catching it to be treated. Oh, and HUGS!

You know what goes great with pizza? Chocolate! Like, a dessert pizza! : ) And yes, it is very scary, but I am very optimistic that you are in good hands and until you get the green light that it's been taken care of and no more worries, you've got us and a wonderful FI and family here to support you! : )

Awww, rdr I'm sorry that it wasn't what you wanted to hear. *hugs*

I've had the LEEP done before, if you want to ask me any questions feel free to PM me. If it helps at all having my IUD inserted was way worse than the LEEP. Just remember you are taking charge of your own health, there may be bumps along the way but you are catching things early.

  • I don't know much about LEEP, but I've done some research on the freezing. They say it's uncomfortable and icky (discharge and such), but it's really effective. Like the other girls have said, it is good that they caught it early.

    Hugs!

  • I can honestly say that this is the first time I've ever wanted to be in New Jersey, just so that I could give you an IRL hug. Lots of people have those procedures every day. The cells are PRE-cancerous, so they'll get those bad boys out of there and keep you healthy!!

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Try not to think about it or stress over it. It won't do you any good and it'll just make you feel worse.  Hugs
    I'm not good at feelings.

  • I <3 you all soooo much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I'm feeling a bit better about things.  I talked to my mom after I posted & she really helped calm me down too.  She's in nursing school & ironically just learned about this kind of stuff recently. The way she put it was that I'm grade 2 which means I'm still 2 steps away from the bad stuff.  And we're taking care of it before it even gets to grade 3 which is good.

    Thank you again girls <3

PS Tiger that is so sweet! I would love to have you here in NJ!!

  • Hey you.  I'm sorry I missed this earlier.  Sending lots of love and hugs your way.  Let me know if you need anything.  Anything.  ANYTHING.  You know how to get me <3

    Love you!

Liv, thank you. That's really reassuring to hear, all of it.  I did read that even if it's worst case scenario it will probably still be OK since it doesn't progress as quickly as other types.  Very good to know!!!

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Health Update.... : You're welcome. I've sat in lots of doctor's offices with lots of friends, and doctors have always said the same thing. That even if you left it untreated for YEARS you'd be OK. I always found that very reassuring! You'll do great.

This.  My Mom had pre-cancerous cells that freaked her out so much that she refused to deal with it at all, for years.  When she finally went back, I believe 3 years later it was still pre-cancerous and she had to have some stuff frozen and then never had another issue with it, ever.

As with any disease the earlier you catch it, the better, but it isn't a rapid spreading/gorwing thing so do not loose any sleep about having to wait until January.

  • I'm so sorry, RDR.

I went through something similar in college (which I probably mentioned before, sorry if I'm repeating myself). I would have to dig out old records to find out what stage my cells were at, but I remember it was somewhere in the middle of not so good, and really bad, so it sounds like a similar stage.

Your Mom is totally right about having caught it in time. Just remind yourself that you're taking charge of your health and facing this head on, like the strong woman you are.

PM if you need to talk :)

  • You girls are the bestest everrrrrr :)

I went for a mani/pedi yesterday & just relaxed then went home & Sean cooked dinner & I had a few glasses of wine. I'm feeling much better about everything. I'm also pushing it out of my mind until I get back from my vacation. No sense in worrying about it right now, right?!

    Thanks again!!!!!!

  • On the bright side, they are precancerous. This is why we do routine check-ups. You'll be just fine!! I know how scary health issues are... eek. I'll be praying for peace of mind! Try to keep your mind off of it.
