A gift of equal value to what my step sister gets.

I get a curling iron, she gets a coach purse.

    Loopy, I am with you.

I don't know what I want for sure but I think I'd like to have Rock Band, again. My ExH took it in the "separation" and I miss it. I also really selfishly want SingStar and a new Steelers jersey. Haha.

Take me! I wanna go too!

BF and I saw Walking with Dinosaurs when they came here in March. It's a super awesome show and I would recommend it even if you don't like dinosaurs. Sit as close as you can! We were in the second row and it was amazing!
    I'm not good at feelings.

    If only......

That's why this year I think I am only submitting a christmas list that is on par with a coach purse. I thought about actually asking for a coach purse to see what would happen. In all reality, I don't really need one though. What I do want is one of those new smaller square full touch screen ipods. and a Wii fit.

I'd like for my half-sister to stop buying me gifts like I am still 13 years old... It's so condescending! I'll be 29 years old next month... the crocheted scarves with the big pink flowers were NEVER my style... but thanks for the thought lol!

However, I really want a Wii!!!! LoL

This is the first year my papa didn't ask me for a Christmas list. I was starting to feel like I was too old for it, but he always picks out the worst sweaters and jewellery. Ugh. I feel badly because they're expensive and nice, just NMS.

I want my birthday to be acknowledged as a SEPARATE event from Christmas.  Seriously, Christmas themed gift cards that have a handwritten "Happy Birthday!" aren't cool.  At least get the generic gift cards - they have them all year because, you know, there are a few birthdays around Christmas!  Or, ya know, put in a little thought and get something specific!  I know it's freaking Christmas time and you're sick of buying gifts, but it's annoying that my brother will get something thoughtful in September and I'll get gift cards since my family can't be bothered to put any thought into it.  If they even put HALF A SECOND of thought, they'd remember that I hate to shop so a gift card isn't much of a gift for me anyway.

Yeah, I know I should be exceedingly grateful someone buys me a birthday gift anyway.  It's not gracious of me to be bitter.  But seriously, folks?!

That's exactly what my BF complains about. His birthday's on the 21st. Mine's on the 25th and my family spoils me rotten <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-innocent.gif" border="0" alt="Innocent" title="Innocent" />

BF's mom has a bday right around Christmas and always demands that we don't give her a Christmas/Bday gift. She has said this prior to her birthday every year for 5 years. I find it rude.

My grandmother's birthday is Christmas Eve and she has never said anything like that.

btw, I would never combine gifts.

My parents are great about it... my brother is also good, and my boyfriend has been fantastic (he even wrapped it in Disney Princess wrapping paper last year since he knows how much I hate birthday presents in Christmas wrapping... I would have killed to have pictures of my big tough guy purchasing pretty pink wrapping paper at CVS).

It's my extended family that drives me nuts about it.  And, ya know, because no one has time or money in December to do anything but they go crazy for spring birthdays.  I can't even get a dinner together because everyone has Christmas parties.

When we decide to start trying to have kids, I will use protection from February until May so the poor kid doesn't have to share their birthday with the winter holidays.  I was also pissed as a kid that I could never have a pool party.

Um, yess! I actually have Disney Princess Christmas paper. Which is amazing. But I agree- birthday presents in birthday paper please. Or at least something neutral.

I also agree with your last part! BF and I were hypothetically speaking one day about weddings and he mentioned he thinks a winter wedding would be neat, and he knows I love Christmas. Umm noooo. Both our birthdays, Christmas, our dating anniversary, and you want to throw a wedding into the mix? NO. Silly boy.

My brother's birthday is on Christmas Day.  My parents have always bent over backwards to make sure his birthday was special.  When we were growing up, we said "Happy Birthday" then "Merry Christmas" - we opened Christmas presents in the morning, my brother got to pick what we had for lunch followed by birthday cake (with some of the neighborhood kids) and Christmas dinner with pie later in the day.

My brother got to have his birthday party whenever he wanted.  One year he had a carnival-theme party around Halloween, he had a New Year's Eve slumber party, and because my birthday is in the middle of summer and my 13th birthday party was at a water park, my brother wanted his party at a water park, too - so his 13th birthday party was held 2 days before my 16th birthday.

My mom said the only thing my brother ever really complained about concerning his birthday was that none of his friends cared about his new birthday toys because they had all just gotten new toys for Christmas themselves.

Also, about the birthday/holiday thing: My bday is at the beginning of October. I wanted a Halloween-themed party, just once, but everyone always said that it was impossible because it was about a month away. It was a bummer. That having been said, it would totally suck to HAVE to have a holiday-themed birthday.

New question- What do you get the kids in your life?

My dad doesn't buy for the kids on his side, and my mom stopped buying gifts for the kids on my dad's side, because they got divorced 22 years ago, so I have been buying for them. Last year I got them banks that count the money when you put it in. I need an idea this year. There are 4 boys that I have to buy for, and I am a poor college kid, so I usually stick to $10 and under. Any suggestions?

@cde - I want to see Disney Princesses on Ice. I used to figure skate and my fellow skating friends and I thought about auditioning for an ice show when we were old enough. Never happened.

@Dreamer - I'm fairly certain I'm gettng RockBand 3 for either my bday or Christmas. I was also eyeing Singstar Glee karaoke, but it's only for Wii.

@Cate - I hear ya! My bday is two weeks before Christmas, and it used to drive me nuts when I was a kid and friends would "combine" bday and Christmas gifts. Yeah, it's a little selfish, but it sucks that I'd get them two things, and I'd get one in return.

My mom asked me what I wanted for my bday, and I had no idea what to tell her. Last year I got my KitchenAid mixer, but I can't think of anything for this year.
