Need a change - help!

So, I have been going to the gym regularly (almost daily) since February, and I decided in the past few weeks to kick it up a notch and start a Jillian Michaels DVD as well. I have been very good about doing it for 2 1/2 weeks now, but I am getting bored, not to mention so sick of her freakin' voice that I almost sent my 3 lb weight crashing through the TV yesterday morning. I'm afraid that if I don't start to mix it up a little, I will quit her entirely. I still go to the gym besides doing Jillian, but I need another option too.

So I want to try Zumba. Anyone have a great Zumba DVD that they work out to that I should get? I am cruising Amazon as we speak.

I have done zumba at my gym, but not as a DVD.  I like Tanja Djelevic, and I've done her cardio burn balance ball and found it challenging.  I also do not find her annoying. She does other videos too, not just balance ball.

Have you tried/looked into TurboJam? I was hooked on that for a while. It's super fun. I generally dislike most all exercise video hosts, so that girl got on my nerves after a while, too.. It was fun in the meantime, though!  You get bored of anything if you do it enough, so don't pay too much money for any of it.  Netflix !

Oh, and major props for all the hard work!  Especially when you're bored and/or wanting to throw a weight at your t.v. :)

Do you have time to get outside?  Sometimes an outside activity can mix it up.

We started windsurfing last summer and it's an amazing ab workout, lol.  At least, it is for me.  BF claims it's a butt workout.  It's very confusing :)

Maybe you could try something outside the gym/dvd setting.

Windsurfing is relatively expensive to do if you want to own your own equipment though (we currently just rent)

I'd look into a Zumba class rather than a DVD. It's so much fun in a class with a good instructor, and everyone looks a little ridiculous so you don't stand out ;)

If you go to their website, you can search for classes in your area. My only other advice for a video would be to make sure you get a licensed one (same with classes). But anyways, Zumba is a lot of fun and probably my favourite workout right now.

The key to sticking with exercise is to find something you absolutely love and to of course make it part of your daily life.  I did the whole DVD thing for a while and I kept getting burnt out doing the same thing every day and got tired of hearing Tony Horton's voice.  About 2 months ago a friend talked me into going to a kickboxing class and I was immediately hooked.  It's something that I love and am excited about when I go.  I never thought in a million years I'd like being in the classroom setting, but I love it.  So maybe try some different classes out to mix it up.

    Congrats on the hard work!

    What about a kickboxing dvd?

In terms of Zumba, I think a class would be better because instructors are always mixing it up for you.

Zumba at a gym... Its is so fun, no one pays attention to you and the instructors are usually really great!

I vote w/ Blue & White... get outside if you can. I've started a routine outside once a week... I run a little bit, then do some squats, then run, then do lunges, then run, then do step-ups on a picnic table, short wall, run a little, run up flights of stairs at a nearby apartment complex.

You can mix up the order, the duration, etc, so it keeps it fun. I love it!

I have Zumba on Wii.  I'd love to review it for you, but I'm never really played it.  I forgot that there is about 2 feet between my bed and TV in my room.

I loved taking the classes at my gym, though.

Ditto PP who mentioned Turbo Jam -- I have the newer Turbo Fire, which is dancy kickboxing, and it is intense! It's a whole series of DVDs so I never get bored.

Also, yes, Netflix has some streaming options.

I also like the free yoga videos online here:
