Ceremony Music?

I came across this video on wedinator (http://wedinator.icanhascheezburger.com/2011/01/09/funny-wedding-videos-flash-mob-wedding/) and the thing that stood out to me most was how the singers kept humming during the vows.  I thought that was beautiful.

I thought the same thing in Lily and Marshall's wedding episode on How I Met Your Mother.  In their little impromptu outdoor ceremony, the guitarist played the whole time.

Granted, these were both really short ceremonies, but I feel like the background music adds another dimension to it.  I'm sure it's probably impractical to do in real life, but I'm curious.  Has anyone ever been to or heard of a wedding with ceremony background music?

I've never seen it done but I don't think it would really be that impractical. If you really wanted to do it I would suggest that you and your FI pick out a song you really love and find someone to play an instrumental version of it quietly in the background when you say your vows. You wouldn't want it to be over powering but it could definitely be done.

That's a super cool and beautiful wedding!  I wonder how hard it was to talk their parents into doing that?  "Mom & Dad, we aren't going to rent a venue - we're just going to break into song in the middle of a busy shopping mall during the holiday rush.  It'll be cool, we swear."

That was absolutely beautiful. Who needs an uber expensive wedding. I loved the humming, and LOVED the vows.

Hm. Sounds like a great idea, but would have to be done just right. Music really quiet, and voices clearly audible. You don't want any of the words to be lost, or even have the music loud enough that it distracts from your vows. Are you and FI planning to say your vows into a microphone? I know for me, personally, it would probably be distracting to hear music at the same time as vows; music tends to steal my brain. Tongue out

I'm such a dweeb because I am now literally crying at my desk. I love that video, and love even more that I have been to that exact spot many times.

Elle- I think the idea of having people hum or soft music in the background would be amazing.
