What did you do this weekend?

I ran 10 miles!!!  Woot woot!  I have NEVER ran that far in my life, and it means that I definitely can do the half marathon in 5 weeks.  I'd like to cut my time down a bit more, but I feel so accomplished that I went from never running a mile in my life to 10 miles in 2 hours 29 minutes. I could have done it a bit quicker, but I didn't want to push myself too hard.  It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be.

And today I'm watching the Patriots game.  A very, very good weekend!  It'll be excellent once I see the Pats stomp on the Jets again.

What are you all up to?

Congrats on running 10 miles! That's amazing. I'm seriously impressed with how dedicated you've been to this.

My weekend has been a lazy, veg-out on the couch type of weekend, and I'm LOVING it. I've literally done nothing. I think I'm actually going to leave the apartment today. BF discovered a hole in the back of his snowpants when he was snowboarding on Friday, and so we're going to pick out new ones before he does out tomorrow. And then we might go to my parents, we'll see.

Congrats on the 10 miles, Cate!

BF's birthday is today! I took him out last night, along with our favorite couple--my BFF and his good friend. Her birthday was yesterday. I acted as designated driver, and BF was adorably appreciative of that. LOL. I got them each a birthday balloon from the grocery store, just for fun. Smile

I'm making him monkey bread in a little while, and we're having dinner with his parents later tonight.

Other than that, work from home both mornings (yesterday and today), blah.

Wow, 10 miles!  I could absolutely never run that far.  I loathe running.

I did a whole lot of laundry, and homework.  And the dog and I both got our hair cut.  Pretty boring weekend, but I do like my new hair.

Congrats on the accomplishment! I couldn't run one mile if my life depended on it.

I just lazed around the house. Golden Globes tonight, baby!

Oh, and the Jets are gonna beat the Pats. ;)

Wow! ten miles is a lot!!

Well FI and I hung out most of the weekend, and our good friend came back from visiting his gf in Korea, so we've been spending time with him.  My little sister's party just ended and it was great! I'm going to post pics in a few moments!

    This.

Oh, I took my friend to my tattooist so she could schedule her first piece. She's getting a chipmunk chasing a butterfly on her hip. She is weirdly obsessed with chipmunks.

Great job on the run - all my friends who have run marathons always say just to pace yourself.

This has been a busy weekend for me...my bridal shower was yesterday (I just posted pics), we had our final tasting at the reception venue today (I was so blown away by what she had us taste today) and finalized the reception menu (Roast beef carving station, chef's special chicken which was so tender and covered in a white wine, lemon pepper and white cream sauce, garlic mashed taters, steamed veggies which will be 2 kinds of squash, broccoli and carrots, a roll and a salad bar); finishing up some laundry now and tomorrow we start our meetings with our pastor.

10 miles is no small feat, but if it was easy for you, those extra 3 will feel like nothing.  Is 10 miles your longest training run?

I started P90X yesterday.  Two days in and still going strong!  ha.

Grrr... the Jets DID beat the Pats!  And that put a damper on my weekend.  Grrr!!!  They deserved it though - the Pats played like crud.

Elle, yeah it was my longest run so far!  Next week I do 6 miles to rest my bones, the following weekend I'll do 11 miles, and the following weekend 12 miles before tapering down until the race (which is good because I'm doing my training for the week before on a treadmill since I'll be in Mexico City for work... no WAY am I running outside!).

Marley, I hope the birthday party was fun!

Angie, sounds delish!  Can I crash? Laughing

GPB and Bside - I can't talk to you today if you're Jets fans.  You're banished!  Nothing personal - need a day to lick my wounds.  (Just playin - Bside, I sent you a PM back).

Cate - That's great about yo8ur run! Yeah, no running in Mexico City.

BF took me to the spa for a massage for my 2nd anniversary gift.  It was so nice, I wish I was still there. Getting up this morning to -28 degree (-18 is the American equivalent) really sucked.

I cooked dinner with a friend (while FBD and her BF played Black Ops) and then we played Echure and drank too much gin.

Oh we also looked at a duplex (for rent) for March.  It's a possibility.

    Wow Cate,
10 miles, that's really impressive and inspiring! I've never been able to run that far and I was on the track team in high school! Admittedly, I was a middle distance runner. But I'd love to be able to run 10 miles!

This weekend was pretty hectic, but very fun! Friday night I went to a girl swap at a friend's house. Made some great swaps and picked up some cute work and party clothes. :)  Saturday my family came in from Vermont, so we did a little shopping and had a lovely dinner. Then yesterday was our engagement party, yay! It was at the local Knights of Columbus, which is in a lovely old building that reminds me of one of those old court houses. My family had met FI's mom before, but other than that, it was the first time the families met, and I was so happy that it was a huge success! My mom can be a bit antisocial and judgemental, but she spent the day chatting away with our friends and FI's family. The only downside was that the party went by so quickly, trying to spend at least a little time with everyone. But we had a great time! Smile

    Cate, that is so awesome!

We went to San Francisco for FI's company holiday party. We went up a little early to visit a couple jewelry stores. He wants a mokume gane ring (japanese twisted metal style), and not a lot of stores carry it.

The party itself was super fancy. It was a Hollywood theme, and there was a red carpet complete with paparazzi and a guy with a (fake) microphone interviewing people.

We went to the photo booth three times. The first one was meh, the second time we got photobombed by Elvis (really!), and this is the third one.

LOL Marley. I should scan the other photo that includes the shoes!

So I ordered a couple of different pairs of red shoes, and they just didn't work out (wrong color, bad fit, etc.). I went with some black peep-toe pumps I already owned with a small platform and a medium-width 3" heel. Appropriately vintage, and they worked out pretty well until I developed a blister at the end of the night (after a decent amount of boogie-ing on the dance floor).

I also made my own black faux fur stole, since I never found one at a good price.
