"In Memory Of" Poem for wedding

I'm searching for a remembrance poem I will have a friend read at our wedding as both my fiance and I have lost our fathers...  Nothing too long or sad...  If you have any you'd like to share please do!!  Thanks!!

  • I don't have a particular one to share although I am sure that you could google "memorial poems" and you will get a bunch of answers.

Also I have a "In Memory of" section in my bio with other ideas to honor deceased loved ones, I lost my mother 3 years ago so I understand the pain of not having a parent there for you at the wedding.

  • I love this one - it's called "Wedding in the Face of Death"

    There are days we live
    as if death were nowhere
    in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
    from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.

[QUOTE]Memorial poems are lovely when read at funerals.  I think that they are very inappropriate at a wedding. You can do things to remember loved ones without making people listen to a memorial poem, which might set off some weepers.  It is OK to have an "in memory" notice in your wedding program.  Some brides carry special mementos or have special flowers to remember them. Please do not turn your wedding into a weep fest.

I tend to agree with this. My Mom passed away when I was a teenager. At our wedding I will be having a memorial bouquet at the guest book table along with a picture of her and a small poem. I don't want anything read because I'm afraid it will make my guests sad - and I don't want that. I am very sorry for your loss.
