I almost didn't even come on here today.

The movie was incredible (anyone else want to chime in here??).  Without giving any spoilers, I think it was the most well-made movie of the series.

There were more departures from the book than I usually like, but I didn't mind them this time.  It was almost grateful because they gave me something to ponder instead of just repeating "this is the end" to myself over and over.

I cried through the second half of the movie, then I cried in the car on the way home.  This morning, I just feel hungover and drained.

I guess now I can turn my energy toward counting down to the Pottermore release in October!

    *spoilers*
Really don't read this if you haven't seen it yet.  Tell you what I will put it in white letters so if you want to read it just highlight.

I enjoyed the movie.  Snape's death and memories made me cry.  I thought that was so well done.  I felt like without Voldemorts memories guiding them things seemed to happen rather abruptly but breaking into Gringots was awesome.  The first half of the castle fight was awesome.  I thought the Kings Cross scene had good and bad parts.  That chapter was sort of confusing in the book and I thought the movie just came out and said what it was, was much better.  But the stuff in the middle I didn't like as much.  :/ I was disappointed with the last Harry vs Voldemorte fight scene.  It was so long and pointless.  Why would Voldemorte punch and kick Harry?  It just didn't make sense to me.  I also really hated that Harry snapped the Elder Wand instead of restoring his old wand and giving the Elder Wand back.  I loved the ending on the train though.  They looked so grown up, I really liked it. Overall though I thought it was very good and the music really gave a very deep and emotional dimension that just the script and filming alone didn't give.  So there Elle.  I can like the movies.

Overall though I really liked the movie :)

I agree with a lot of what you said too Ray.  I don't know that I would as successfully use font colors to avoid spoilers...  but yes.

I'm going to TRY it though...

I hope this looks white... if not.  QUIT REQADING.  IF Yes, please avoid the typos I can't see:

Snape's memory was so powerful to me.  Huge.  And though it's not in the book, I liked the Luna/Neville bit.  Mostly, I was upset that the final ending didn't include Remus and Tonks' kiddo. After all, Rowling said that he was one of the reasons why she wrote that chapter, to show he was okay... then he's just not there.  I really didn't like that.  (I also disliked the wand bit).  But I thought it was such a fantastic movie, and they nailed the Snape part... and I had such sympathy for the dragon at the beginning too!

    Success?

    Yep.  I agree, Cunning.

    Here are my thoughts.

I thought both the Prince's Tale and King's Cross scenes were really well done.  Even though they both had some differences from the book, they worked well on screen.

I thought the scenes in Gringotts and the Room of Requirement both felt rushed.

I too, would have liked to see Harry repair his wand.

I didn't like seeing Harry talk to Hermione and Ron before heading into the forest.  I think it would have been more powerful to show him sneak past them under the cloak, but the way it was done was probably good for people who haven't read the book.

I was very happy to see both Mrs. Weasley and Neville have their big moments.  I sob/laughed at both of those parts.

I was a bit disappointed in the final battle with Voldemort.  It was too drawn out (again, though, it was probably better that way for non-readers) and I didn't like that everyone else wasn't around to see it.

In general, though, I don't feel like I could have asked for more.  Even with the changes, it felt right.  It gave me the same feelings (well, ok, almost the same feelings) that reading the book did.

Right when the movie ended, someone yelled "Mischief Managed".  I wish I had thought of that.

Your BF is named Nick?  I don't think I knew that.  My FI is Nick, too, and he also had to be at work at 9 am, but that didn't stop us from going to the midnight showing.  He just had to suck it up and get a Red Bull this morning.

I agree, after last night I feel hungover today.  I just don't have the will to get up and do anything, and my head still hurts from all the crying.
I loved it, and I think it was one of the best.  Prisoner of Azkaban is still up there for me though!  I think I'll have to re-judge when I go see it with BF in the next couple of days.  People in the theatre really annoyed me with boo-ing at the end (they didn't like how the book ends, which is fine, but at least let us all enjoy it!).

The things they changed for the most part I liked, except for (highlight the rest) the drawn out battle at the end.  I agree it was weird with the kicking and pushing around, and I found the flying around with each other bit to be really strange.  The Princes Tale I LOVED except I found it almost creepy when you see Snape crying and holding Lily while baby Harry is crying in the background.  It was the baby that was creepy, otherwise its a very sad moment.  But I mean, the kid is staring at him. He's crying, his parents are dead, and Snape just ignores him.

I'm so sad its over :(

    @Raven highlight below:

Harry did tell Albus that the sorting hat would take his choice into consideration, but also reminded him that Snape was from Slytherin and one of the greatest men he knew. Then Albus seemed comforted. I also did not like the scene where they jumped off the roof and were morphing together while flying around. It freaked me out and was strange.

I'm still sad it's over. I loved the movie and really don't have too many critiques. I will follow everyone else's lead and put my thoughts in white so I don't spoil it for anyone:

I wish there was more with Draco's character. I didn't like that his family just walked off at the end. I also wish they had done more with Neville through the entire series, I feel as though he is the unspoken hero and that is brought out more in the books.

I really enjoyed the humor in the movie and it didn't feel pushed to me. I think it was needed to break up the intensity of the movie. As I said in another post I started hyperventilating during the movie because apparently I was too into it.

When Fred died I cried but just a few silent tears. I knew it was coming so I didn't cry like I did when he died in the book.

My favorite moment was when Mcgonagall had her I'm old but still a total badass moment :) I absolutely love her character in the books and the movie :):)

I was not a fan of the epilogue part. I was kind of hoping they would just leave it out. Albus Severus is a stupid name and the whole scene is beyond cheesy. However I did tell BF that when we have kids I'm naming them all after Harry Potter characters he said no. haha.
